I started drawing seriously in my senior year of high school, 2000. I'm kinda kicking myself for not being more dedicated to it growing up. Taking all of the life drawing classes and a painting class from my community college really helped though. Ron Brown is an awesome instructor!

Well that's my intro... oh yeah, I'm majoring in animation and currently work as a student assistant at the college animation lab.

I'll keep updating weekly (I hope... )

It's not water proof, but it's pretty durable.

This is an old picture. I have a white Prismacolor pencil too, my other ones were crap and I normally bring one sketchbook for more room for other stuff like a cd/mp3 player.

Some good stuff there,

It's easy to see you've greatly improved as the drawings go on.

The soldiers with the guns are the 'best of the bunch', you seem to have good knowledge of basic anatomy. Your early sketches look like you were just practicing different methods of art, and it shows it's helped by the appearance of your later drawings.

Your drawing of the arm is good, and my favourite pictures out of them all are probably the soldier kneeling down, using cover or reloading, I can't quite see, and the soldier pointing.

Your Spiderman sketches look like the legs and feet are twisted around, and they don't look right at all i'm afraid to say. The drawings of the eyes you've done are also good, maybe trying a slightly darker pencil on these eyes will help bring out the detail, as they are light.

Now for the best piece of work, the bag
I've always wanted a proper artists bag like that. Is it specially made for artists to use, and where would I find something similar? An art store maybe?

Anyway, good work overall, keep drawing, and it's easy to see, over time, you will be extremely talented.

About the soldier kneeling, he is taking cover and reloading. Someone said to me before that I should add backgrounds to my sketches, I guess that should be one of them. hehe

The bag is a map case bag. You might find one in an Army surplus store. Though I don't know if they have any in England where you can buy US military surplus. Easily found in eBay. Definately not water resistant though, I just came from the beach and it felt kinda moist. Better the bag than the stuff inside I suppose.

Can you buy bags specialised for art, to hold books, materials, equipment etc, and what would I be searching for on Ebay, what would they be called?

Ivellion: For my bag I searched for "military map bag" on ebay. I don't know any bags specialized to carry art equipment. Another kind of bag would be this paratrooper bag. Someone in the forum wanted a bag like mine and found that paratrooper bag. He liked that one better. Hmm.... maybe I should open an art store and sell a bunch of these bags

Hay you know you can make it watter proof real easy. just go to a place that sells camping gear and get a can of watter proofing spray and go to town. should make it atleast water resistant.

It seems the only good ones on Ebay ship to the US only, so I looked on google, found loads, but shipping worldwide is more than the item by far, between $30-40 and the bag is only about $12. I like the look of them so much, including these ones,

Hey SirRon, you posted in mine, so ill post in yours! First id like to comment on that green sketchbook you got, its the SAME one i just finished! Lol, I find that stuff funny, but arent them pages so big? I hate it cause I couldnt scan the whole page in! Anyways onto the art. I think your style on paper is a little sketchy, thats the point right? Well I dont know it might be taste but I like REAL clean lines. Maybe once you get the Idea down, redraw the same pose with as little amount of lines as possible. Not needed, but just an idea. And I really like that last Jedi Jawa in OC!
Now that I saw all the art on the page, (im so impacient, didnt let it all load) I think that I like the post after your gear stuff the most, im likin the arm study. Keep It up!

Large pages are annoying to scan. I just try to not cover the entire page because I know it's going to get cut off. I had this huge scanner that would've worked but it's old and broken. Now I have this smaller scanner, but it's USB and not the old SCSI one.

I really do like that messy sketchy look, but not too much. I'm trying to work in less lines and more bold, confident ones. What I normally do in OC or Photoshop is make a sketchy layer and then work on more solid lines on a new layer, but the end result doesn't look right to me. Eh.... just means I need more practice.

nice sketchbook you have here. I was going to suggest that you use some reference pics for the jedi drawings you are doing. I think the jedi jawa is a fun idea and you should possibly work on it some more. I have a couple of jedi pics that i am working on in my sketch book thread. drop by and check 'em out, and don't forget to post.

hey, i think this is a pretty good piece. as for the cltohing it doesn't look that bad. My one suggestion would be to imply more for of the chest area. not each and every muscle but areals you think should stand out because of his body positioning.

DUDE, I dont know what to say.. That self portrait is amazing. The lighting looks really cool, even though I think you said you only did it because it was easier.. I dont remember. When I saw your new avatar, I thought it was a photo! Keep it up! .... And what is that! Your sketches are looking better too, getting better with the lines I see! IMPROVEMENT!!!
