The nose is too low, unless it's ment as a charicature. Rendering looks nice so far.

the nose isn't too low, everyone's nose is different.
i like what you are doing so far. keep it going. it seems like you need to start working with a smaller brush to get into the details around the eyes and the hair.

You should flip the image before you really get into the details, the head looks a bit skewed. Otherwise I think it's a very good start.
