Knight of Roses

Hello everyone! I'm tying to draw from imagination now, moving a little bit away from figure and form studies and more towards stuff that I've invented. I tried to work out an idea that's been in my head for some time, a knight with armour looking like rose petals. I kind of fudged that aspect of it by not referencing, which I now see is an important point, but I was hoping that I could get some criticism regarding the execution and the "look" of the piece. I'm not entire sure what critique I should be looking for, so anything helps!

I think that REALLY hinges on getting good reference. I think the idea is pretty cool. You could go further by setting him in a rose garden. But your going to have to look at tons of roses, so look up some roses and draw some roses so your roses look right. They are very intricate and can be easily recognized so that if you mess up on them everyone can tell.

I'm liking the single line shading by the way, it makes the image flow downward. So make sure that there is stuff to look at below.
