Evening everyone, I've been a big fan of conceptart.org for a looong time and now I've finally decided to post some of my 'art' for you to critique!
I've been drawing seriously for about a year now, and just recently I purchased a wacom tablet (intuos4, its fricking amazing!). This is my first character design ever, and my first attempt at digital painting, so please please critique the crap out of this painting, be as harsh as you need to be, point out my mistakes, give tips etc!
The painting started out with a pencil sketch which I then scanned in and painted over. The character is an Ogre Key master, probably with some demonic powers too. His weapon is a giant key which he can insert into his chest/belly to unleash his destructive power!
thanks!

Hello and welcome here. It's a nice character, I like the posture you give him !
First, I want to point some anatomic issue your character have : his torso is too short, it's like he didn't have stomac (maybe they didn't feed him very well, who know ?). The arms do not have the same lengh, look at the one holding the hammer, it's really too long and the elbow is much longer than the other arm. Just asking
I would recommend you to try to find a reference, or at least, ask a friend to take some picture of you in the same posture. That will really help you to figure out how things are placed and you will have better material for rendering.
hello Wandsyy. wow; only been drawing seriously for a year? that is amazing!
im completely gonna disagree with the belly being too short. I think that is an ogre thing, and also in the angle you tried to achieve, it forshortens. you will need to use construction lines when going for difficult shots like this
difficult? yea; you put the horizon low, and are obviously trying to make the ogre stick high and hulking above it. here's an example on how to contruct. since you wanted real big I used 3p perspective which is just about the hardest.
if you want to learn how to do this on your own, look for tutorials about mathematical perspective, 1, 2, and 3-point perspective and such. there are a lot of them online.
And Ashess, thanks a million for the paint over, it really helped me understand what was wrong with the perspective. I wasn't aware of how important that stuff was, I will look up some tutorials today!
