    Smoother Brushes

Is there some way to make brushes smoother? Sai has a really fluid brush and I want to see if I can recreate it in Photoshop. Right now it looks all...bumpy. Any suggestions?

It looks like it could be a spacing issue. If it is just make the spacing really small (like 2%), if it isn't then make sure your smoothing option is checked off in the brush panel. If you're using a wacom tablet they should also have a pressure sensitivity "curve" feature or something. I don't own a wacom so I don't know for sure but I think I remember seeing around that there is a way to set the pen pressure to your personal preference. Sai also has a stabilizer built in which photoshop does not (which is probably the biggest reason) but I think there was a third party plugin that did the same thing. Link to the third party plugin. I haven't tried it so I don't know how well it works but apparently it's used in zbrush a bit?
I swear one day I'll be good. I swear one day I will be proud of my work. When that day comes, I'll need to kick my ass and try harder.

I agree with StressCavity, turn the spacing down in the brush settings, it's the major reason the standard round brushes in photoshop look bumpy. I personally have very smooth brushes in photoshop, never had a problem with bumpiness after some brush tweaking. If it still doesn't work it is indeed down to your tablet settings.

Hm...that plugin only smooths cursor movement, not pressure. Spacing is at 1% so that's probably not the issue...I'll try messing with some tablet settings.
    Thanks for the help!

Looks like size jitter to me....

The top stroke is 0% jitter, the bottom one is 86% jitter... set this in the shape dynamics dialog of the brush panel.
