    Red face Grumpy McGrumps's Sketchbook

    Hello there traveler,

You have wandered into the strange lands of my sketchbook.
    You should be very afraid.

I have been practicing drawing and digital painting for a little less than 6 months now,
thought I could start uploading things here and get some feedback to continue to improve myself.
Bear in mind that I couldn't even hold a pencil decently 6 months ago, so ALL feedback is welcome,
I'd rather have hard, destroying criticism, so I can improve, than none at all.

My uploads will mostly be schoolwork and uploaded at random. Hope you don't mind.

    Greets from Grumpy.

Some work from Januari, the assignment was to make a carriage for a necromancer. I got sloppy towards the end :/

I refuse to believe you've only been drawing for 6 months... holy. That is mighty impressive. Well done is all I can say!

The process for the carriage is interesting to see. This is pretty much how it should be done. Have lots of ideas, then single out the best one and work it out. You said it was an assignment, so I assume you're doing some kind of course related to this.
In terms of critique... your brush strokes and lines still seem a bit uncertain, but that is to be expected of someone relatively new to drawing. I suppose this is something you'll develop over time.
Some of the thumbnail shadings of the carriage look a bit more correct than the final rendering itself. The final rendering looks like it has a really bright spotlight in front of it, which can work, but personally I would associate this vehicle with something a bit more dark and dingy. Not to say it has to be in darkness, but at least have the highlights a bit less bright. (they're almost completely white here). Also the shading doesn't make sense all over the carriage, especially the shadow it throws across the "ground". It looks more like it's parked against a hill (unless this was what you meant?). I see you were trying to make it follow the light from the front, but keep in mind that even shadows follow the rules of perspective.

Other than that.. super impressed with how far you got in so little time.. definitely keeping an eye on your progress.
