creature designs in progress

This is a creature design assignment for my class. So, here's some of the details of the assignment:

In the class, we're supposed to do illustrations of two creatures, one of our own and our partner's. With our partner's, we need to match their style as close as we can. For each creature, we're drawing them in 5 different poses. The grading is based on design, rendering, and consistency (getting the proportions right for each creature in their different poses).

So far, I'm the process of designing. My original design was a winged skunk. Then I turned it into weasel-bat in hopes of pushing for a more evil, sly design, but I'm not sure if I'm seeing it.

What do you think? What's working and what's not?

Hello.. it remembers the sketches of Da Vinci than a finished work.... can the design be a sketch, or a finished work?

Anyway, I think you could work on providing more details about the creatures... I can see it is a type of dragon or bat, but I can't see too much details... if it already have, please, upload a picture that shows details.

I think looking up pictures of colugos could help. I think the neck looks ungainly right now, and may be a little too reminiscent of a dragon and not a bat/ weasel.

pauloricardo: I think the design can be somewhere in between. Though the sketches were more to figure out a finalized design.

Slothboy3000: I agree. It does look reminiscent of a dragon. Unfortunately, I couldn't integrate designs from the colugos with the weasel-bat.

So here's a more refined design of the weasel-bat. I hope it looks less like a dragon and more like a weasel-bat. And then the wing span was inspired by a pteradactyl toy I have.

For future reference, what's working and what's not?

The bat needs muscles to fly, and wings have finger joints :-)
