I think you're doing okay. Not sure about the hands and legs yet. Why cut it off short? Have you thought about the background?
Unless you colorpick from a photo, you will quickly run into problems with this kind of coloring method.
You are putting a lot of energy into a small part of the picture, without seeing things in context.
Color can't be seperated from it's surrounding colors: http://gurneyjourney.blogspot.de/201...constancy.html
Values are dependand on other values in the picture. http://gurneyjourney.blogspot.de/201...-illusion.html
You'll get the most control, if you work hierarchically: Big things first, little things later.
Add the rough basic colors to the lizard and it's surrounding. Then see if everything works together or if you have to change anything.
I just took a break to post this.
But sometimes I also draw stuff
The cutted leg is a miss calculation of "papper" proportions, like the tail, but i will transfer the layers in a new big file. I dont think about make a backgorund yet, but i will consider do one.
Yeah, i have bad habit do to like u said "putting a lot of energy into a small part of the picture", perhaps an anxiety to finish the painting...anyway, i will read the articles to improve my painting skills.
Thanks and again, sorry for my poor english,
Cerejazz
I rework the painting based on value method.
