Daren's sketchbook of sketches...and finished concepts

i have created this so i can get feedback on my work and improve, i have been digi-painting about a year, so i'm still pretty new to it, the majority of this work will be for a project i am doing at uni called the journeyman project, in which i am a concept art junior lead (stressful ) so any and all help is much appreciated

Before you focus on doing full paintings I would suggest a little more studying. There are many basic issues with this piece that could be resolved with a little more understanding. I would suggest leaving this alone, working for a few days on perspective, value, anatomy. After studying you should start from scratch and see how far a little bit of understanding can go. Good luck, if you have any specific questions just ask and I'll try to help.

I can't start this again or take a break for a few days, as this is for an assignment for university and it has to be in for a deadline (i would if i could.), but , i will do more studies in my spare time, and work on values, anatomy and perspective. cheers for the advice, it's much appreciated thanks.

Here's my quick take on it. This was done using a mouse on a school computer with a version of Photoshop I've never used so it's sloppy. Anyway I fixed some of the proportions as you can see on the right. Your figure is only 7 heads tall, the ideal male proportion is 8, little issues like that should be set up properly in the very beginning. I hope this clears up some problems, sorry I don't have time to go into detail.

Also here's a tip, try flipping your image on the vertical and horizontal axis, this will show you which parts are out of proportion by giving you a new perspective.

Nice stuff in here so far. I really like your last post. Keep doing studies like these. Nothing will improve your work like doing studies. Keep it up!

A pirate woman for a game being made, i made her an african lady because i thought it would be good to see a strong black female as a protaganist for once, as i you don't see it in many games.
