    Tokenin's Sketchblurg

Drawin' here, drawin' there, drawin' everywhere.

Hi I'm Aimee, I'm 21 years old and I've finally decided to start makin' an online presence.
I've done half a degree in Fine Arts and a Diploma in Animation, just to make sure they were things I didn't want to do for the rest of my life. Kinda starting to think I like being all over the place...

Critiques, tips, more critiques, observations and the occasional thumbs-up are all welcome.

Yeah, basically these first few dumps of sketches are from late Jan-Feb, uploading them all at once to get them outta the way.

    People this time! And aliens.
I know a lot of the faces are kind of wonky, I forget to flip my pictures when I'm drawin' out of a sketchbook.
Get it together, get it together!

Great expression, good style. I particularly like your choice of colors in the 'shroom studies. Would love to see it applied to your characters.

Definitely looking forward to seeing more!

And now for some work in progress pictures.

Critique Especially appreciated on these ones:

First up, I did the silly thing of paying no attention to the background or composition of this picture and now I am wary to continue.
The big teal ball they are sitting on is going to be a planet/asteriod/moon thing, and they are in space. Not sure I like where the characters are placed on the page, any ideas?

Next up, symbolism! Uuhh, the hands are going to be robot hands... the girl is going to look a bit more "ill" I think.

Here's one that's been bothering me.

I drew this quite a while ago and I have made several attempts to finish it, but I might just have to call it a speed sketch and leave it be.

i love all of it, especially the mushrooms. can't wait to see more things. edit: and I guess with the planetoid one you could put them in the bottom half and emphasise the space around them or with the way you have it now the emphasis is more on the importance of the planet thing to them.

also, the back of the ill-person's head seems excessively large, though that could just be the hair shapes making it look like that.

    Thanks a lot, it's really encouraging !

Yeah, your comment really confirms my thoughts on the composition for the planet drawing, and I will take heed! The planetoid is being greedy : I

In regards to the second picture, even though I have been looking at the picture quite a lot I totally forgot about the back of the head in terms of proportion. Originally it was going to be "stylistically over-sized" but as I changed the face it seems to have become out of place; will experiment around with it when I get back to it.

    Thanks again for the comment!

I like that you switch between very simple designs and sketching styles to the opposite end of the spectrum like your last speed painting. Also in regard to your planetoid piece I'd move the planet and the characters more towards the bottom. Gives you a lot more space to play around with the universe behind them. keep it up!
