I'm here to be inspired, to improve, to make friends and to work hard so I really appreciate any critique that anyone is willing to give.

CA is such a big community so it's a little daunting for me right now, I hope that someday my art can match up to most of the talent on here

Chell. Like this but I've been having a tough time with faces lately. Will start doing some face studies.

Hi there! I'm really digging the atmosphere and 'attitude' you're getting across with your pictures. As you mentioned, doing face studies would be beneficial to you, as some of the faces here look a bit off.

I think the Chell is my favourite. Love those blues!

I love the two panel characters. The expressions and the angles really do tell a story. I agree, face studies I think would help with the proportion of the features and with making the expressions even livelier. Looking forward to seeing more!

My first WIP for this week's CHoW. I think it's pretty obvious that this kind of character doesn't come easily to me, couldn't really think of anything too original or interesting. I'm pretty busy this week so I don't know if I'll get it finished but I'm trying to do every CHoW form now on this year, even if it's just a sketch

Hey,
You've got some promising stuff here. You've got a sense for characters, what you lack is some basics stuff. I feel that your drawings need a good linework, with line weight and flow in mind. Also, I'm not reading the volume of your character's bodies very well.

When drawing a stylized character, you need to think about it being in a believable world, with volume like any other normal anatomy body, with slight proportions variation. Another way to go about it is thinking about 3d animated movies like Bave, or any other. The proportions are stylized but the whole volume of their body is portrayed in a realistic manner.

Also, nice work on this last piece. The lighting makes the forms read well.

Just a sketch to start of the day. I kind of like where this one is heading. Today I'm going to do some studies and work more on my CHoW piece (I think I'm going to start from scratch and re-do the pose).

I have a lot to thank to the girl below, she really unlocked my imagination during school when none of the teachers liked or encouraged that side of my creativity. I'm glad that I'm able to start doing some justice to her personality.

Try to fit some studies between your own stuff, or study something then create your thing using it. Hope it makes sense and that it helps

#3 is great! I agree w/ M.Calza do some studies from life (still lifes, self portrait, landscapes, model w/ props, etc.) especially paying attention to light and how it defines shapes.

I'm a big outline junky... I'm still trying to break that habit.

Hey guys! It's been a while. I think I've been going through a bit of a slump lately, I've started exercising regularly again and I'm feeling better already. I'm currently working at a bar which can cause me to work to 3am in the morning, sometimes several days in a row so it takes a huge toll on me. I've been trying my best to push through it with my art

M.Calza: Makes perfect sense, I've never really done studies much before (other than life drawing). I need to put more effort into just doing it!
worjord: Thanks for stopping by! I've been trying to break the habit for years and sometimes when I get rid of the outlines I'm not happy that I did it. I'll try out the tutorial, thank you so much

Hi there! Thank's for taking the time to stop by my Sketchbook, I thought I'd return the favour
You've got a great sketchbook here! I love how you can get across each character's individual personalities in the drawings, something I know a lot of people creating characters can sometimes struggle with. I like how you also created the GIF of your process in post #11, I'd say you've got the right idea there by drawing the body first and then putting the clothes on top. I agree with what others have said, some studies would really benefit your work, I think clothes studies in particular with your characters. I'd suggest drapery studies, but I think it'd be more helpful if you looked at how clothes hang on the body and how the folds etc suggest the body's shape and weight underneath.
