Hi, I'm starting a sketchbook here in hopes that it will get filled up that way. There will be different types of sketches, some faster, some more precise. But as the title says, nothing is final.
Anyways, here we go

My favorite is the first sketch. And the bridge. How long did it take you to finish it? It almost doesn't look like a simple sketch.
I'm a beginner and you just inspired me to try making some digital landscape sketches today. Never done it seriously before and actually I'm practicing anatomy now... but yeah. Yours look awesome.
The carrier damage sketch doesn't give me a feel of completion in the same way as the other sketches because of the unfinished top part. At least in my eyes (untrained eyes!).
Thanks for the comment!
All of those were done from imagination, and the most difficult part in that is how to start and how to find good values. That can take a lot of time or if you get lucky, it can happen very fast. After that it is just detailing.. which is not even necessary sometimes, because the image is already captured, like in that last thumbnail. You are right that the first one saw the most finishing, in the second I purposefully left the top part less detailed (it's not as important, so shouldn't focus on it), and the third never went past thumbnail phase.
But I'm glad if those inspired you somehow, and thanks again for the comment.
Here's some more, these are just sketches done in the past by the way, new stuff coming as soon as possible

Cool plains, keep going with this stuff!
Nice stuff, your thread will be on my checklist for sure
awesome
Wow. Are all yours works a single layer ones?
n1frit - thanks, will do!
M.Calza - hopefully it stays that way
Setherial - thhanks!
dtouched - Certainly not on one layerBut trying to keep the amount down, my bad photoshop habit is to make a new layer for almost anything. And after million billion layers none of them is useful because you can't find anything. But masks are sometimes really helpful.
Here's some more

Wow you have a lot epic pictures! Your environments are stunning!
Good job, I would work on your perspective but other than that nice work.
Really like the second enviro, you're just focusing on enviros or do you do figures as well?
Thanks for the comments again. Perspective definitely needs some work, Mike you're right about that. Shouldn't just try to fudge the thumbnail around and try to make it 'kinda' work. M.Calza, I'll post figures when they get better, which sometimes feels it's gonna take 10 years or something, but definitely sooner or later. I'm a matte painter and retouch artist in my daily job so enviros and values come quite naturally.
Anyway here's some verrrry quick studies loosely based on photos. Some new epicness coming hopefully soon

Woah, nice work!
I really love that bird one!
Is that using Feng Zhu's painting style? Controlling opacity manually and suchlike?
Great sketchbook!
That's a great start for your sketchbook. Mmh... eager to see even more sweet art.![]()
love your environments! the first one and the tilted futuristic flyover are truly awesome!

lovely work, my favorite is the small boat one on post 3. I get you on the nothing is final thing, it is a sketchbook right?! sketches aren't finished they are
more like notes in art form, looking forward to seeing more, Cheers!
yes, more awesome, love the color play
Thanks for all the comments, here's an update after a short silence - work took it's toll, and then there was slacking off to do. And slacking off takes more time than you might think..
Naonik, I have both brush opacity and size usually set to pressure sensitivity. So I'm not really using the manual 40%, 60% etc. opacity thing, other than when glazing or adding fog. Sometimes the resulting semi-transparent brush marks look bad. But I'll use any and all brushes, even intentionally blurred ones, as long as they give interesting results. Here's a war of the worlds type sketch where I tried to achieve a lot of variety in my brushwork.
And here's some animal drawings, fast and loose. Trying to get the poses and big masses right.

Great sketchbook so far. Inspiring enviros, especially the second one in post 8. Enjoying your use of color as well. Please keep posting.

Very nice environments. Some areas could be sharper to accentuate the focus points but overall your work is pretty good.

great work so far! look forward to more!
Oh what a sketchbook. the first image just struck my mind so hard and I think that you really are having a great sense of perspective, composition and colors. Your enviroments are just jawdropping.
Sorry for replying so late but I have been sick for a long time now but I really appreciate the feedback alot. Big thanks. Its hard for me to critique you since I find your art really good. Whats been said above kinda sums it up. When it comes to the animal drawing I think that you are having a nice dynamic in your poses, the dolphins, whale and bugs can be abit sharper but I think that you captured the movement very well. The spider looks abit creepy but I also have arachnophobiaall in all. wonderful work, cant wait to see more
