    Austens Sketch Pad - August 31st 2012

    Hey guys, I'm Austen,

    -2010 update-
When I started my CA sketchbook I was 19, now I'm 22, I've learned a lot since I've been here, and I hope to learn a whole lot more ( cause I'm surely not getting anything beneficial from my school...) each day I'm here. So take a look and see how things progress and by all means, drop a critique or two, I would greatly appreciate it.

    (EDIT!)
To whom it concerns, I moved all my drawings from this post to my second post.

Oh, man, something wicked is going on here. The shark page is particularly cool. I'd like to see more non-comic book-esque anatomy- slightly podgy, lanky, fat, etc. Also, I'd like to see some more female forms.

These are awesome, and you're makin' me jealous, man.

I really like your illustrative style and your crosshatching. Keep it up I'd love to see some complete works from you and something more realistic.

A 3 step inking process, not that you care, but its pretty neat.

Its Gibby Haynes from The Butthole Surfers, hopefully gonna turn this into something bigger.

A few recent pages from my sketchbook, I finally repaired my old Loomis book and began studying it, im amazed how off on heads i was!

here are a few pages of creating heads in a loomis like fashion, most are my own, a couple copied. Also a random doodle page for a project idea. Let me know what you think

gonna get back to work now, whee!

Swell stuff! You can already see the improvement. Try some big environments with dynamic perspective, and lots and lots of little characters, ala Where's Waldo style.

    Thanks for visiting my sketchbook!

Cool stuff here, really liking the randomness of the stuff you draw, and the style.

    Keep working!

Thanks guys, here are a few more pages from my sketchbook. Mostly head studies. There's also some more sketches of Gibby Haynes for my poster idea, and also a sketch of Obama that I'm doing as a gift.

    enjoy!

Killer stuff man, the picture of the drunk and the baby about made me bust my gut. Also digging the chick hugging the skeleton pilot looking dude, it's all good though. Lets keep in touch man, maybe sometime we could collab on something. Love your lines.

Thanks guys! Glad you all approve. Here are a couple more scans. The first page is a lot of junk, mainly showing my practice with using nibs. the second page I'm going ink with nibs. just wanted to show a before and after. Stay tuned!
