Honestly guys, I feel very lucky as I got so many overpaints throughout my years here, and it really feels like people are interested in helping.
Especially LaCran's heroic crit that helped not only me, but many others. Thank you all!

Here are some OPs I got that have not been posted.

Arenhaus breaking down a photo for sctructure:

Venger took my attempt to paint my gf to the next level and really influenced my final rendering.

First here is what I was doing:

    Here is Venger's:

Zephyri took my bear and made him much more dynamic and amiable, as well as created interesting lighting.

    mine first:

    Zephyri's

Sone_one noticed my Louis CK has a giant body for his head size, along with some structural problems.

Tiny Bird suggested some new poses for my stupid looking wolf.

    Mine:

One of my favourite paintovers -- this is mostly showing how powerful it can be to simplify background details, but also some other things which you can read on the original post here. Original by Altiv:

Also, here's one from a recent thread -- original by Novaking:

    PO by EZpaint:

    up.
    2. Be less sloppy with the rim lighting - right now its just sort of slathered around the edges of the character with a blurry brush. Rim-lighting can give you a chance to really define the small nuances of the body with hard light so being more confident in where you put it will really give the character a much more 3D feel.
    3. You have a good opportunity to create some slick, back lit hair.
    4. With the light coming from the back, don't be afraid to let some detail of your character to slip into the darkness - you do not have to render every single detail for your image to have an impact. I also darkened the center slightly to really give the contrast a push.

Couple I did tonight for people on the 4chan art board... people over there are so opinionated and argumentative. Lots of fun, but also a bit frustrating cause a lot of people don't know what they're talking about! Second image I didn't write on it, but basically just needs to think in planes more to keep from having a mushy look. Also it will help figure out what areas need to be lit and how much they need to be lit, and also when you think in 3d you will be more likely to solve construction issues in the drawing.

Fucking hell some of these are great! LaCan and kingkostas in particular are tearing it up!

A few more I did the past few days, mostly for 4chan's art boards. Kinda regretting not writing directly on more of these images as oftentimes the paintover I do is pretty rushed and crude, and the text is more important...ah well.

    Elwell's Edge Tutorial

The careful manipulation of edges is one of the most overlooked, but most important, tools an artist can use to create form, atmosphere, and believability.

    In general, edges are:
Harder in the light, softer in the shadow
Harder in bright light, softer in dim light
Harder in focused light, softer in diffused light
Harder in the foreground, softer in the background
Harder on smooth forms, softer on textured forms
Harder on hard forms, softer on soft forms (Duh, but really)
Harder on flat forms, softer on rounded forms
Harder on thin forms, softer on thick forms
Harder on still forms, softer on forms in motion (on moving forms they are harder on the leading edge and softer on the trailing edge)
Harder at the center of interest, softer as you move away

The above are additive. So a kitten, far away, in the dark, would be really soft.

Of course, any of these guidelines can be ignored/modified for pictorial effect.
