    Baby-Alien Incubator
    Deadline: Sunday, February 10

The Minithurian Hospitals are renowned for their top notch, specialized care of all the primary species of this galaxy. That being the case, only the wealthiest can afford their services- one of these being the activity of bringing new baby beings into the universe. Not all of these babies arrive in 100% health, and like human spawn, they have baby incubators. Your job is to design one of these for a species depicted in any movie/TV show of your choice (eg. the MIB movies, or Dr. Who, Alien etc.). You will need to submit an entry with a reference photo of the alien you are designing for in addition to the submission itself.

    Brief:
    1. Design and draw a Baby-Alien Incubator.
    2. That's it... now draw!

Ooo interesting. I'm thinking (initially) some Giger sculpted biomechanical chamber for a xenomorph... But, that is what I'm always thinking about anyway! Maybe a superclinical Vulcan life support machine for a baby spock could be fun.

Scifi geek alien anatomy research mode first, here are a list of films I will look at.

    Alien (Giger)
    Avatar (Blue, large scale)
    District 9 (Shrimps)
    Dr Who (Darleks)
    E.T. (Phone home, bicycle)
Independence Day (Welcome to earth #punches tenticle baby in the face)
Invasion of the bodysnatchers (possessed humans?)
Mars Attacks (what would Tim Burton do?)
    Species (Giger)
Startrek (Borg, Klingon... too many options!)
    Starwars (baby Yoda... too cute!)
Superman (Kal'El, didn't he arrive in something similar?)
The fifth element (one of the best scifi films ever )
War of the worlds (Steampunk / art deco streamline?)
X files (government facility / abduction)

Hmmmm.... I wonder if video game aliens are acceptable as well? Cuz ill definitely make an honest effort given even more choices, designing stuff for games like halo, metroid, and mass effect would be cool!

I decided to go with the Giger Alien incubator. Due to the extremely hazardous nature of a xenomorph, even a dying / broken chest burster the design incorporates an autonomous medical treatment system and advanced security measures. I made a quick sketch model put together presentation style layout as a template to work up over the next week.

    Well. That's awkward.

I didn't realize that was happening. Since it is happening and started at the same time, feel free to submit whatever you would like as long as it matches the brief. Pre-designed alien and an incubator specially designed for it.

So after the disaster that happened in new york in the movie Cloverfield, the government did somehow manage to capture the creature and then they started thinking that it would be a sane idea to see if they could breed the creature. These are the giant incubators stations that were built deep in caves in south america. The crystal chambers are the actual incubators, where the newborn creatures are placed so that they can survive in our world until they are strong enough, and the station underneath is both a science station, and acts as a trap for when the creature is ready to come out of the crystal. Then the bottom of the incubator opens and the alien falls down and gets trapped under an energy field.

Any critique or suggestion is always greatly appreciated.

I like 5 and 6. They have some more complex/compound shapes to make them interesting.

Been too long since I tried an IDW. I decided to go with Mr. Happy Face here. I spent time drawing reference from some of the design work I saw in "Predators" (wasn't much actually, but it gave me an excuse to watch the film again), and some stuff around google. Here is the first pass of the initial linework in PS. Some things will get changed, I know that already. Plus color. But the base is there. So far, so fun!

Good luck, everyone. I ran out of time to do anything this one, but hopefully will get a shot at next week's!
