Spent the whole day trying to buy a copy of LMS... LOL

] M. Calza - hey dood, thanks for stopping by again ! And might I add - your comment about how the cranium lies underneath... so, so, so true! So I checked out some Hampton for a bit and my goodness - I found his teachings on the head to be incredibly helpful especially with positioning of the eyes and nose structuring... so thank you! I feel a lot more confident with my refless portraits than yesterday!
] Satu - oh wow! Thank you a buttload for the kind words and flourish of motivation !
] FightingSeraph - awh yay thanks you! Much appreciated !

& thanks for stopping by guys ^

[ skb - okay, okay... so this may sound a little bad - but I spent basically the whole day trying to track down and buy a copy of Dan LuVisi's LMS: Killbook of a Bounty Hunter! xD
It was practically impossible to find a copy that was available to be shipped down under... UNTIL A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO YEEEA.
Anyways, in the time I spent between searching my butt off - I...

Did two really crappy 10-15min still life studies.
And some refless portrait sketches (before and after I checked out Hampton for a couple o' mins)

Congrats on the LMS book, really hard to find for a fair price, about your drawings, now they're getting full heads, yeah! I know you know that but your paintings look rushed though.Waiting for today's update!

don't stop, get it, get it! We are your captain's in it, steady, watch me navigate...

] M.Calza - haha yeah for sure and especially one that can be shipped to Aus (: haha thanks! And yeeeeaa, dey's probably the woist sketches I've done - but I still uploaded them because this sketchbook is about showing the best and worst work on my road to becoming a better artist thanks for dropping by buddy!

[ skb - hopefully I've made up for yesterdays crappy, rushed paintings with some film-still studies ~ focussing on colour and speed. (Last one did all at 33-50% zoom, others @ 50% max ~1hr for the first 2 and ~1.45hrs for the last -- damn)
I also watched a bunch of vids concerning lighting, took notes on them - read blogs that focussed on lighting etc
And some quick clothing studies before bed (2mins ea)

Those 9 studies took me right back, the extra time put into them was definitely worth it. With the quicker still life paintings, I'd say spend as much time as you need to on them in order to understand the subjects. I know it's cool to be able to knock something 'readable' up in a short space of time, but take a little longer to observe and learn from the setup.

The stuff from imagination got tighter over the last two weeks, good to come back to all this stuff!

Hello there @smrrfette! Thanks for stepping at my SB.

Damn!!! Your stuff is amazing, also seems your lines are way steadier than the first page in very little time!! Good lord it's mindblowing! Can only tell you that you try to paint or draw more detailed stuff (in order to improve the final quality) but only if you aren't already doing so, but damn even rough some of them look really solid!. Amazing stuff, going to have to follow you closely, I'm astonished!. Keep breaking walls!.

gah! It's almost time for uni and I'm already really busy!

] kevin_ - it sure is! I hope to be the best I can and therefore I'll never stop posting! thanks for the motivation & for dropping by!
] V3T - thank you! Means a lot and no matter how busy I am in a day... I'll make sure I sketch/study at least one page!
] M.Calza - haha thanks you M. Calza Bridgman for me is good for arms, legs and motion in the human form... (haven't really done many torso studies yet) but as for understanding how to sketch heads - Hampton ftw! Man I really just need to study anatomy a buttload more thanks for stopping by as usual
] herionz - my goodness herionz thank you, thank you, thank you for the ton of motivation!! yeah I really need to start trying to do some refless finished-quality paintings because you're right - I need to practise finalising things and working on details! Thanks for stopping by, I'll always keep pushing myself !

[ skb - damn I hate being so busy and not bringing my skb anywhere :< only today was I able to do a couple of hand studies (will get better!), refless portrait sketches and oh - made a quick little storyboard for an animation I plan to create in the future! Although it's unfinished... maybe I'll update it later idk
note to self: gotta work harder!!

Heey there, your heads are waaaay better already, and the second page of hands is awesome, I really like the shading. Idk if you see it already but Loomis is even better for heads. I'll try Bridgman in the future, my figures are very stiff atm. Waiting for more! Seeya

Loved to go through this sketchbook and see your improvement! There are a few things I still see in your portraits that has not gotten better though and that is that your noses are too long and the eyes are too far up! Check out some tutorials on face structure and you will be just fine.
I am also a bit confused because when you make your eye studies they look wonderful, rounded and very natural but as soon as you draw from your mind they get too wide for their height and very pointy, like you forget all you learned in your studies!
Your gesture drawings and hand studies are awesome and you shall have loads of pats on your back for that hard work and that it really pays off, WOW!

Sooo busy and it's not even uni yet... oh yeah? Well...

] M.Calza - haha la thank you ooh I found Loomis is pretty hard for me to understand/apply - but I haven't given up on him! Yap, Bridgman is pretty suave
    ] Morningtea - yay thanks a butt load !
] ArtOfAnna - thanks you! And thanks even more for the critique ! A very good point and I'm glad you commented on my long-nose and eye-height problem haha (I really need to work on it ) oh yes, it's really strange that I grasp the studies but can't apply it well :/ I blame it on all the anatomically-incorrect cartoons/doodles I drew all throughout my childhood to 1st year of uni LOL :'( I need to break old habits, fast! Thanks again!
] anjyil - thanks you! And hahahaaa and that's why I love pen !
] kamikazel33t - LOL oh why thanks you! ! Haha yesss keep pushing! Let us be great together!!

[ skb - I say screw obstacles--!! It's 01:57AM - there was no way in hell I was going to let a busy day get in the way of art! I'm not going to slack... especially before uni... gah!
Daily studies. Daily practise. Daily updates.
    That is all.

    *bit of Hampton
    *bit of Vandey
*gestures (tried with a bullet-point marker fun, fun, fun!)
*colour study (enviro) - experimenting ¬1hr
*refless portrait thingy... I tried to finish it but I just didn't know how gah ¬4hrs-ish. Too long... TOO LONNNGGG... for something that still looks like it's at sketch-quality :/ I will learn. I will get better.
(note: I'ma start simple refless portraits -- brain fuzzles errywhere)

[ skb - I can sleep at least a bit better knowing I've targeted my maaaaain weaknesses that I can work on tomorrow before I have to leave at 10AM to appointments & gatherings.

*ref'd hands from life - different media - tried experimenting. I need to get better at hands x 1000
    *20-30min filmstill studies
    *5-10min eye studies
*refless portrait using a palette -- need to work on colour theory
*blind contour drawings -- to up drawing technique
*gesturessss -- not taking my hand off the paper for once! I realised how much harder figure studies are :/ but bring it!! >:J
*some Bridgman arms, torso, shoulder studies
    *refless doodles

the scans are all mixed up!

Hey Steph(can I call you that?) A lot of stuff hey!! your poses are looking nice, and your heads are getting better and better, just watch out for the relation of the features inside the head, and I love the eyes studies

I love those trees in 80. They look amazing.

Right now my only crit is that you seem to be rushing through things a bit. Take some time and do a longer study for a couple of hours or more. You can learn a lot if you focus and really take the time to look at and understand the reference than if you rush through it.

] Umbravita - oh my goodness thank you for the critz you managed to solve a problem I've been wondering myself for the past week-! I'll be sure to spend much more time on areas of study - because hell, you're right!

Thanks for dropping by guys ^, much 4 u haha

[ skb - GODDAMN YOU UNIVERSITY. I'LL KILL YOU!!

Buuut seriously. Now that it has begun (goddammit) I really, really, really have to organise my time effectively. Or I might just punch someone... real damned hard. It feels like I've been slacking off, like my brain's been put on auto-pilot in stupid uni-flow. I need to manage my time and I need to stay on top of it all. I already know what to do. I just need to get my toosh into gear.
Also my scanner has been dead for the past couple of days :/ </rant>

So these past two crappy days was filled with crappy sketches on the bus & train and soooooome studies.
tried experimenting with the figure studies - the proportions are whack!
need to work on facial features as usual - I find portraits are my weakness - which I will focus on and destroy <:
been doing a bunch of hand-eye coordination type stuff because my lines suck but I won't upload them
aaaaand holy omfg I feel I've learnt quite a bit from the Vanderpoel plane studies I just did now. -- I need to focus more on these because my refless doodles are shiiiiiiiiiit!
    All unordered pretty much.
