I'm no expert with faces so I cant really comment on the features or structure. They look okay to me. The girl in the original photo has a lot of freckles - not sure if you're going to attempt those but they might be affecting how you're seeing the various colours on her skin. I'm seeing more pink tones on her cheek and nose than your have in your painting, so maybe building on that will help. Other than that, I think it's a case of refining things until you're happy with the end result.

But again, I'm no expert so maybe others will think differently.

You've flipped the reference or your picture. which doesn't make it easy to compare. You're putting in way too much shadow on the light side. Also you need to narrow the chin a bit. I'd watch copying those irises too closely as they look too reflected and slightly cross eyed. Yours are bozz-eyed because the pupil isn't centred. Nothing that can't be fixed - features line up and look this the photo's. Seriously though, those freckles will give you hell - mine make me look as if I have a grubby nose.

Looking better! Perhaps more color/saturation to the skin tone? There's a slight bluish green on her bottom eyelid with a hint of red above her eye, her cheeks are rosier and her lips are warmer. There are other areas that have different colors to them. This will help make the portrait feel alive. That's my 2c

its quite a challenge what youve done as youve chosen to interpret the pic rather than slavishly copy areas of colour. kudos, i think its a much trickier thing to do than a simple straight copy, you have to think harder analysing and reconstructing the structures. good work. thats a pretty good homework assignment in itself; traw something from a different angle.

i think its looking good but maybe dont be adraid to use a big old brush to blob in stuff and se how its working. i also put everything on one layer, filter/glass (or one of those distort filters) and made the layer an Overlay. might or might not be a good thing... just prefer to hint at the freckles than having to draw them all.. im lazy..
btw i dont paint portraits so grain of salt; guys like Venger and Sone1 have amazing anatomy skills and will be able to help you more.
