It's time to start studying seriously. I'll turn out 25 years old and still won't earn enough money to make a living of it if I don't.

Comments or suggestions how to do better with the next piece are really appreciated.
I try to be of any help to you guys, too.

Nice start so far love no 3 down and the..weird..red haired.. boobed thing ,thnks for the nightmare fuel XD.
I can't really crit anything but if you ever go back to no 3 again or do something similair I think making the red glow around the eyes stand out more and making the sides of the background a bit darker would've made it look alot cooler.
Look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for your suggestion, you're right, pushing the contrast arround the eyes will draw more attention to the piece...I'll try to get it done

( seems the red haired boob thing really looks strange cO everyone responded like this when seeing it XD )

Hey Ruschkala! Nice SB! the cloud Studies look great! Good that you want to do so many studies. Id suggest you maybe to do some close up studies from portratis or sth like that to work on your technique. The way you applie the colour and values looks a bit muddy. It brings me a lot to take a photo and really try to nail it (depending on the amount of passion I got at that moment ) to capture the edges and stuff like that. Keep it up!

I really need to do more studies in order to get my colours right, so I started one yesterday. It is not finished yet but I'm on it.

been a while I haven't worked traditionally, so went to the Glyptothek in munich to do some fast sketches and studies

fineliner + color pencil for shading and highlighting

I could stay all day long there, studying the human body

Cool stuff. The horse study and the leg are wonderful, you've certainly got a knack for rendering. I have to say though, I think the poses in poses #8 and #9 are pretty stiff, I would try to work on getting a bit more life into your figures. Keep it up!

Guten Tag! 6th day! Good deal. Nice studies. Do a great deal of observation, gestures, etc. As "not fun" as it might be, always continue to work on basic form through still life, etc. I hated still life, but there can be some great pay offs as a result. Haben Sie eine Guten Tag. And if my German is lousy now, I apologize : )

Those fundamentals, there's no other way than keeping the track, right? (Except having a new sort of brain that instantly renders out any idea that comes to mind)
Especially when one wants to get the colours right. Let's do our best.

OK, no, I do not only like to share it with you,
I really want you to watch and read what Stephen Silver is trying to achieve. For all of us. That is you, and me, and him and everyone in the creative industry.

He starts talking about how we are not prepared for business life at most of the art schools
about how artists are treated in general
points out on what we should have a closer look
and that we shouldn't give others our work for free



An Interview with him you can download. About an hour. The way he talks reminds me of Anthony Jones.

For me, I have no idea what it is like outside my little, cushy room.
Of course I thought about it, how to get to work, how to be found on the Internet, how to promote myself, which persons and studios and companies to know, how to write contracts.
But let's be honest, these are thoughts that are just fluttering at the side of the big big "Get the basics done"-one.

I have no experience. I barely know people who are out there for longer than 1 year.

That is why I am grateful for any kind of information that provides us for some not so fluffy situations.
Situations we can prepare ourselves for. I'm not keen on dealing with one punch after another. So you are, aren't you?
After watching I felt how another layer of armour wraps arround me and how a third eye grows there at my back.
I still have no experience but people like him give us the chance to at least be mentally prepared.

Please take your time and watch his videos if you haven't done it yet.
Informationwise it is not a highlevel speech - but it is indeed very motivating. Hopefully he tells us more details.

You've got more good drawing/rendering in here.
Some of your finishing is a bit soft for me. The proportions on your skeleton diagram feel a bit too long to me, particularly the arms and femur (upper leg bone)
Keep at it!

Someone else told me that too, the tighs got too long. I haven't fixed that yet but am glad, you pointed it out.

Couldn't fall asleep tonight.

That day I started to paint a portrait of my little brother..he told me sitting there for ~3 hours would be ok...and left after one single hour TT.TT
played with brushes for additional 1 1/2 hours on my own
