That ear! Really nice study, has a lot of pop to it. Can definitely tell you've been thinking in 3D.

Good to see all this Loomis stuff going on. Nice composition in those environment thumbnails too. It's all going on here! Let's see even more.

WOAH! Great update man! Gotta love the head constructions and the values in your thumbnails.
They are so readable, other than mine :/

This ear is also pretty damn impressive, you'll never forget how to draw ears now

Your constructions are just lovely, do some more O_O

Dude, thanks for checking out my SB; it's great to meet some new people on here, especially when they post work that's as focused and well structured as yours. Your perspective studies are looking perfectly awesome and your work with the Loomis mannequins totally makes me realize that I should go back to look at FDFAIW and study that some more. Thanks again for a chance to check your work out and keep it up!

Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook! Glad to see such an interest in anatomy and perspective, it'll help you so much later to have done it early.

Nice values and (again) head constructions – that is what I should probably do

The values in that painting are also pretty nice (watch your edges though, in some parts it looks a little like a cut-out).

The whole figure you drew looks nice, but a little stiff. I think you've over-constructed it a little (it's very apparent at the arm). I think you just need to do more of those to loosen up a little

awesome sargeant copy, i always get a mix of crushing despair and endless admiration when doing master studies i mean they really expressed themselves with the strokes and manged to make the atmosphere jump out of the page, keep it up man also loved the values on the mrjanum figure!

Great block in for the Sargeant. I'm trying to get a sense for how to do that right now as well, as I tend to focus way to much on the details early on in a rendering/painting.

its been a while since I last posted,I havent been Idle I just decided to take a little break from the internet as I was getting into old pattern of internet obssession.
i am sorry if i am missed anyones replies I will try to catch up to whats been going on.
also there is an update with some regular stuff construction, construction and some more construction.
I plan to do a lot more still life this month as my life drawing skills arent that good so hopefully this thread will be injected with some variety and my nickname wont become ironic.

MrFrenik-thank dude,i am struggling a lot with that as well- this block in took me a 3 hour or more
with a lot of niggling and tweaking which if it were not digital would have been proved crucial for any likeness.
I find that it comes to measuring and still life practice, need to do that a lot more often.

lionheartGFX-I know what you mean man I try to get inspired and not depressed from how good sargent is.

ecki-thank man,the loosening up bit is spot on,i am very rigid in my brainbox for someone who suppossedly should
be creative, need to practice just drawing things without worrying over fundamentals.

bread crumbs-thanks dude I hope it will.

Hi Sergey Great to see you doing so much work on fundamentals of anatomy and perspective! I think youve very quickly gotten a nice grasp on how the body functions, try to move away from literal cylinders and sphere joints, have them in your head and create more fluid figure which you're already starting to do, start to look at the actual knee cap and what that involves etc. They have a great sense of form and i love how much you use basic planes for your head drawing. The brush economy on that sargent study is really impressive man. Love the planes and the form man keep it like that very solid looking keep up the studies keep getting more fluid with it great man excited to see whats to come

Hi mate, nice studies. The still lifes and your perspective thumbnails are awesome. Do you start with abstract shapes or go straight for a perspective block-in?

crackpot-thank you for leaving a comment.

TFsean-dude it means a lot to hear this from you your sketchbook is bad ass,i will probably start hammering on anatomy soon ,I still dont feel comfortable with construction and manikins so
I guess i want to feel i can draw any pose with the manikin before i move to more complex things.

Kvetch- thanks dude,I do use abstract shapes but not always.

here are 2 sketches i did from imagination just not to make this an empty post.

nice updates since i last been in here! looks like your on track with all the perspective and anatomy studies and practices. i would suggest adding more portraits to you work flow and maybe doing some more work in color would be good. i know a lot of people like only practicing specific things until they get it and then moving on to the next fundamental but you can really learn a lot quicker if you just go all in. anyways just my two cents, keep it up!

Great perspective studies, man! Don't feel lazy; you're definitely putting out more creative stuff than I am at the moment, ha. I'm struggling a bit with constructing cast shadows from floating objects that fall on other objects, at the moment. Such a bitch. If you have any pointers, I'd love to hear em!

hey all, sorry for not updating for so long I felt a little bit stuck motivation wise this week so this update isnt that great.
Yesterday I read the alchemist which really gave me a boost of inspiration,so I should be on track from now on.
    .

    V3T-the lined paper has retired.

Joe777k7-dude your comments lift my spirit so much, thank you!

kevin_-thanks man, definitely should do more portraits,I will wait a little bit with color as i am struggling just with drawing and value as it is.

MrFrenik-I try not to succumb to the dark side of self loathing.

    maths82-thanks.

M.Calza-next update will be more finished, promise!

    Brink!-good idea,thank you.

the stuff is mostly sketches from imagination ,some loomis portrait, comsition studies and fruit life studies.
i will try the next update to be more finished and interesting than this.

Great stuff, Persona! Hey, I'm thinking of a starting a perspective study thread, if you and Joe and whoever else studies this stuff like we do would be into it. Sound like something you'd be into?

I can totally understand the internet obsession and dead motivation thing. They both tend to happen hand in hand for me. You end up comparing yourself to all these amazing people and feel like it's just not worth it. But good to see you've fend that horrible feeling off.

Your studies are pretty good, and your bodies actually have this feeling of mass to them, which I always find tricky. I would say the only thing I notice right away that feels a bit...strange? I'm not sure how to put it, but seeing that you do a lot of these loomis type studies, many of your heads after rendering still seem to have a very geometric feel to them. Though mind you that could be more of a preference! ( I always feel like my faces and heads are kind of....mold-less haha, which isn't very good either!)

I think I'd be most interested to see some more splashes of colour in your thread, at least a bit here and there...but I don't think it's such a problem as you're only two pages in. Keep fighting the good fight. c:

Joe777k7-thanks joe,I guess everyone rides the improvement curve.

MrFrenik-where is the thread dude?I am refreshing pages waiting for you to open it.

Lostcookie-thanks for the kind words,I am aware that my drawings still look like school work assignments(very rigid and mechanical) but hopefully with
practice i can improve on that.

more finished stuff will be coming later this week and maybe even some color studies, but meanwhile here are some life , loomis studies, a scot robertson box and a painting quick study.
