Going to post sketches here in the near future,
thanks for looking and have a nice day.

I would absolutely love to be given some constructive criticism on my sketches!
So if you can spare some time for that it would make me very happy.



I am currently trying to not draw anime anymore, to be able to draw new things,
widen my horizons and not be stuck with "pretty anime girl" being my only option when I actually sit down and draw.
All criticism is welcomed.

My tools are:
Traditional: Mechanical pencil, markers, coloring pencils, watercolor.
Digital: Photoshop and Sai.

Hey Tindre, congratulations on a soon to be awesome sketchbook =D. I would say a great start to broadening your horizon from anime is to do observational drawings, draw from life as much as you can, also get as much mileage as you can, doodle and scribble and have fun O.o, but seriously, do some life drawings as a start to your foundation in gravitating out of the anime zone.

I'm happy you took the time for that.

I really, sadly, think I need to rebuild a lot of the groundwork in my anatomy drawing skills due to drawing anime for so long. It's sad that I didn't care before.

I have started drawing from life lately and it is surprisingly much more fun than I thought..!
I actually drew someone on the train today while he was sleeping,
but he woke up and I think he noticed. It got a bit awkward.

Nice start. I like anime too, but i also think you should start learning about other things, doing still life, drawing heads, gestures. Although don't stop drawing what you like, just learn new things and apply tour knowledge in your anime drawings.

Yes, that is what I am planning to do now and for a while. My sketchbook (IRL one) is banned from containing any anime. The drawings still bear resemblance to anime style, but I am trying really hard to remove that. (this is when I go full on to draw anime:

So as you can tell from my earlier uploads they are not trying to be anime style, it just happens. OTL)

I have done it for a little while now,
and I have already noticed improvement in my anime drawings, which is really fun. ^^

Here are some new drawings, also the guy I drew on the train. He was so adorable. xD

hi! thanks for the reply on my sketchbook, the guy you drew on the train looks non-anime-style already!
maybe you can try doing some photo studies to get an idea of what it's like?
I'm trying to draw "more realistic" anime style (ex League of Legends) because I think it's easier to start with than jumping to real life.

hello there you have a very nice SB but I totally agree with Yalisa - try doing some photo studies as well as real life ones. Also still lifes will be a good practice - I know, those can be boring and painful but helps tons with form and shapes Try drawing some apples, pears, mugs and keep it!!

I really really love your full on anime sketches, you have a beautiful style. But I think you'll find your versatility and skill will skyrocket when you start breaking away from anime.

When you come back to it you can really play around with mixing anime with your style. You have a lot of talent and potential, I'm really excited to see more from you!

Hey thanks for your kind words~ Your anime eyes look awesome, love the faces! If you work on basic anatomy a little (hands, for example) then you would see a big improvement in your anime drawings ^^

The last pic you posted in this thread looks promising, and I would suggest that you look up books on anatomy, perspective, etc.
