Design Lab Episode 9 - Sunken Forest [youtube activity]

Hello everyone.

I thought it would be nice to bring my youtube viewer participation series over to my home on Conceptart.org. The main focus of these activities is the initial stages of design, and the process behind coming up with a finished concept. It will be nice to be able to look through images and share comments in a more capable format (obviously youtube comments weren't made for that).

The topic is Sunken Forest. Feel free to submit any ideas that this may inspire, but keep them loose and in the preliminary stages of development. There is always time for development later on.

I think this may actually be my first post, always been hesitant to post on concept art because I'm unsure of my painting skill level... Anyway, those of you doing this design lab may find this program REALLY helpful. It's called Alchemy, sort of a chaos/vector graphic generator. It doesn't have any undo, which forces you to be very non-committal with your designs. I've done many forest concepts using it...

Wow Some great work already!
I really liked Incinerated's Idea of Giant whale floating through some tree's so i kind of took off with that, the second is a huge cavern or cave with a river, the forest is of mushrooms which give a strange glow, i also added a waterfall to make the composition more interesting, this was all done with out any photos or textures liked you showed in your vid sinix so i might try that way and upload a few more later also feel free to take these ideas and expand on them if you wish, just mention me.

Sorry, I don't have any pictures to post on this thread right now - lack a scanner and any kind of tablet =( But I just wanted to give a shout out as a subscriber of yours. Thanks a ton for making these videos - even when I only view them and don't participate with pictures, they are very beneficial to me. Hopefully if you are still doing these in the next year or so I'll be able to join you guys in these projects/lessons.

so here's my first post to CA, hurray!

the second pic is a forest sunken in sand,
the blue thing is a sci fi device for simulating a forest flora and fauna on a microbiological level... in a liquid.(so it still counts as sunk)
and the last thing is a tree mermaid in a sunken forest.
learned a lot doing this, unfortunately it was that i suck at environments. oh well, back to practice.
oh, and no ref used. in retrospect, not a good idea.

I just used the "Insert Image" button in the Quick Reply hotbar.

Hey I just wanted to get my idea out there of a forest sunken into a city or a large garbage heap, I would draw up a thump nail but my PC is dead.
