Back from London. Brought the flu with me. Feel like shit and can't concentrate on anything for long. This is the most trying time for me so far since I've started this SB in November. Plus, I've been getting more into 3D (Skechtup and 3DSM) and really still have no idea whatsoever what I'm doing. Thus I have nothing 3D to show.

I've been working on a trading card game with funky cars, can't show any of it though.

Just to send some life sign- I'm still here. I'm trying to make the transition to 3DSM, and hell, that's a lot of stuff I need to learn. Sorry for the continued absence. I do more 3D than drawing these days and with 3D I don't always have something to show for. Sorry!
I'm in Budapest for the next couple of days, I hope to get some drawing done in that time.

Hey GreyPersona! Haven't been on here for a while, hope you're still going strong with your practicing?
I started out with 3DSM and was completely baffled by the immensity of the software and switched to MODO. Have been using MODO for a week or two, still have no real idea what the heck I'm doing, but it's getting better by the day (I hope).

are you doing 3d to get familliar with the production pipeline and to know how to create basic meshes for painting
or do you ultimitely want to be a 3d artist?

Various reasons. Familiarity with the pipeline as you say is one of them. I think as affordable and as (relatively, compared to the olden days) easy to learn as 3D packages nowadays are it's really not a question if but only when one starts learning the basics of 3D.
Personally, I'm interested in rendering architectural and "product" still shots. I find it very refreshing after just drawing for months. Additionally I feel like the ability to build 3D forms in MODO has increased my spatial awareness and my ability to build 3D forms on paper as well, so that's two birds killed with one stone if you ask me.
