cool sketches Syle! the best in terms of composition is the second one imo. But the first one has potential too.
Also, for the size of the waist you mentioned, it looks bigger because of the military clothes, you know those bloomer pants. xD

Thanks Eddy! Ah, that makes more sense about her legs then. Thanks for clearing that up.
Here's some more figure drawing updates. Also, I pushed that random sketch from my post before a bit further. The big figure drawing one was a 60 minute pose, and the rest were 2-5 minute poses.
Added some color to this one.
Hey Syle the 60 min one is great, you constructed the body shapes and the lights and shadows very well.
I also like where is going your colored sketch, but you definitely need to add something to the background.
And here is my first sketch of the week.

Fantastic Eddy! I have no critiques for that! Did you use reference for any part of it?
Great start to your week
Yeah, the background on that is definitely lacking. That one just started as a random doodle, so I'm just going to chalk that one up to poor planning. Any thoughts on what I could possibly add in?
Thanks Syle! and sorry for the late reply. Yep, i usually use models, in this one it was Bruce willis.
For the background maybe some twisted estructures, o psicodelic things would be nice, lol.
Also, here is the sketch for the illustration i´m working right now, Eowyn and the witch king.

Sorry, haven't posted in a while. here is something new I am working on.![]()
no prob man, i´m busy as hell this month so i didnt posted in a while too.
But here is sketch i did yesterday. It is just a idea, but i wanted to do a scene like this from some time ago.
![]()
Looks good. Good faces/emotion.
Here is an enviro speed paint and I finished up that grotesque-handed woman.![]()
thanks man! cool values on that creepy woman, but there is too much black, you really should avoid pure black.
I worked some more on this scene, i´m really enjoying painting this.

Awesome works by everyone in here. Is this an exclusive group or can anyone join?
Heya Pete, I just sent you a PM. Eddy can add you to the list, and I will also add you into my signature as well!
Welcome aboard!
I've got some more art to post tonight, but I wanted to share this as soon as I could. I HIGHLY recommend all of us to read this and take it to heart. If you truly want to get better at something, this is the way:

Figure drawing from the last couple of weeks. Some good stuff, some bad stuff. I am definitely getting more comfortable with the quick gestural stuff.
Awesome Article. Just read it all. Also HOLY SKETCH DUMP MAN!!! That article is one that needs to be shown in schools. To eliminate the mentality that people are born with their abilities instead of having to work hard and learn to hone their skills. Well done Style.
impressive update Syle!and thanks a lot for sharing that article, really wise words.
No doubt your training is paying off.
aah tomorrow i will post something, been too busy these days, but thats not an excuse!
Also, show us some sketches Pete!
Just the stuff I have been working on Digitally over the last week. All unfinishedRecently I have reverted back to my pencil and paper to get more familiar with structuring things. Ill post what I can of my sketches soon.
Just a few things I did from last week. Not everything. But some. All the others were just lines and I feel those can be left to my book. no need to flood this one.
Good update Pete! Keep it up. Draw every day if you can. What are you studying from right now (book(s)?, online resources?).
Here is a painting I worked on yesterday. Total time about 5 hours.
Dude Style! Nice Jedi concept. As far as what I am doing, Right now I am working on drawing the figure. So Proportions, Anatomy, Gesture, Head. Im doing loomis and Hampton. Using ref from all sorts of sites.
Pete: Loomis is pretty good. You should check out Bridgeman as well. His stuff isn't the most anatomically correct, but he does a fabulous job of showing you how to represent the human forum with a sense of volume and form. Do you have the option of doing any life drawing in your area? Try looking on Meetup.com for any drawing groups. I've never improved drawing as quickly as I have since I started attending some life drawing groups regularly.
Here is a finished version of the Jedi piece. I decided to add a Sith Lord to develop the storyline a further. Total time was about 8 hours.
Pete: nice practice! What Syle says, draw everyday as much as you can, and good choice with Loomis. Also, i spotted gray fox on your sketches so extra points for you.![]()
Syle: Cool enviro, why dont you add another pillar to the right side of the picture, maybe pointing to the sith lord? i think that could enhance the composition, also if you render some more the vegetation and work a little more on the figures, this could be one if not the best piece you ever posted here.
So sorry guys for not posting anything this days, been busy with stuff and i´m not that good working under pressure, i must improve in that too!
Anyways, here is a berserk sketch i did today.

Whats up EduardoGaray, hadn't seen you around here, just on CD. Of course I guess I must not have been paying attention. Anyways, nice sketch man for sure. Lots of good work in this group actually, I'll be sure to follow along!
"Shoji Station" - Futuristic mars outpost. About 5 hours so far.
Eddy: good critique Eddy. I'll try to find some time to play around with your suggestions.
STRaY: Cheers man! i dont post so often in this forums, just here and my sb. Nice to see you here.![]()
Syle: I´m impressed man, the jedi and sith piece had a lot of potential but this one is about to become a great illustration, i love the composition and color palette.
Today i just sketched this cool guy, and then did a clean lineart and basic coloring. I will probably start to render it tomorrow.

Eduardo: Sick pieces. I really like the dark mood on the face. And the character is looking clean so far. I really like the design of it. So sick. Reminds me of an MGS ninja.
Style: The Jedi piece came out looking really good. In my opinion I feel the jedi should have a more dynamic pose. Like if he was in a stance getting ready to fight. Add more drama. (Dont know if that made any sense.) Now that Futuristic city, I Love, love LOVE the colors. Cant wait to see if you finish that one.
Heres what I worked on this weekend. I didnt have much time to draw. but the time I did, I really tried to focus on heads and proportions. I also made me a schedule to follow to help keep myself motivated. With inspirations from J Scott Campblle, Dan LuVisi, Feng Zhu, Randis Albion, and Boch from right here on CA.
Nice updates and schedule Pete, i tried a couple of times to follow an schedule myself but i cant![]()
Here is a design i did today, think about fantasy in a pre-WWI setting.

Pete: nice update. keep working my friend. it will pay off. it's practically a scientific fact. how is that schedule working for you? in my experience, schedules never worked out. i just replaced everything fun that I used to do with something art related. now, art is what i do for enjoyment. some famous artist has been quoted to say: you have to remove every distraction from your environment, and you have to make your environment just uncomfortable enough so that THE most enjoyable thing to do is art. i've taken that to heart, and put it into practice and it has really paid off.
Eddy: nice work. i like the outfit a lot. you seem to have thrown in a lot of different elements (mask/ninja, sailor jacket, sword) and yet there is still some nice cohesion going on. I really don't have any critiques; unless of course you are wanting to push the piece to a finished status, in which case I would say to clean up your edges
I may be calling this one finished. I've never put this much detail into a piece before, so I struggled with this one a little bit. But, that was to be expected, so in the end, I am pretty pleased where it is. this is one of those paintings that i imagine I could work on it forever and it just work it to death. any critiques are most welcome!
Dude Eddy that character looks very nice. I really like the overall design in the character. Reminds me of an old world war 2 generals outfit but from samurai era and his face reminds me of the characters head you posted on the 28th of February. Is it supposed to e the same person?
Style: That city is beautiful man. The colors, the perspective, the location setting, just everything about it. there's something just pleasing about how everything comes together in it. At least that is the best way I can describe how I see it. Ha ha.
I will not lie. Since I have made that schedule I have failed horribly at keeping to it the last couple weeks. Although I have still been drawing I have not dedicated nearly half the Time i though I would. It is a goods reminder though.....that I am failing lol. I have some studies but not enough to post. Atleast not satisfying enough to me.
I do have this little cross over fan art that I am working on. Adventure Time Pokemon Crossover LOL.
Pete: thanks man! the uniform is inspired by the confederate army in the US civil war with a samurai touch yeah.![]()
Syle: as i predicted, this last one is the strongest you posted here. But would be cool to see a more interesting lightning, you know more shadows and highlights.
At last, after almost a month i´m able to login again.so sorry for not updating this, anyone had the same problem this month?
Anyways, if you are still there, lets continue with this!
Here is some sketches i did this month, i was busy with some work and now i´m with the bloodsports challenge on crimson daggers.
And a page/style test of my graphic novel stuff.
