Another cafe sketch...This one is of a character from my world that I've drawn before. Her name is Giorsal. I don't use references, except for on figure studies...tend to go from my mind most the time, so there will be faults But I'm working on it

Some quick sketches from the cafe once again.

Sketch of my character Giorsal, unfinished...attempt at a more intimate/random pose, need to reference for a "putting on sword-belt" position. And I gave her freckles, because freckles are attractive.

    Random bad-guy shit.

Also did some logo designs today, but those don't really fit the theme.

The last self-portrait is pretty good and shows and amazing progression since the first one. You're creative, and alot of the stuff you do has some nice design elements....but...Dude, listen to everyone's advice and go get an anatomy book! I want to see studies from all parts of the body up here and by the tons.

Okay, second crit is your line quality. On most of your sketches it looks scratchy and (no pun intended) sketchy. Pretty much everybody goes through this and it's not a huge deal but it makes your drawings look much worse than they would with nice bold lines. My advice is to take five or six or ten sheets of paper and just work on nothing but your lines. Make bold confident strokes and don't work if they're not exactly right. Just work on neat confident lines. another exercise is to start with one side of the figure (or whatever you're drawing) and try and do the whole outline in a single line.

Anyway, don't worry about your lack of replies. My thread's the same way. Draw for yourself and not anyone else. I know it gets frustrating though when you know you need help and no one will take the time. Jsut keep practicing with every second you can spare and it will come in time.

Noticed from your profile that you and I have alot of the same interests. Never done MMA, but I've done a few different martial arts and am currently working on some old WWII type combatives stuff. Pretty interesting and effective stuff based on old judo and boxing. Anyway, keep it up, bro!

Rkhon, listen to what I_am says, there's a lot of truth in it. People do come and look. Make yourself known on the boards, try to help people as much as you can yourself and thus promote your sketchbook. Every once in a while even the pros will come, take a look and probably even leave a note with some valuable hints.

Thanks fellas for the words. I try my best to force myself to do anatomy studies, and I do have 2 books. But I always seem to let my creative side take over, which I think is funner. Although I do understand the value, and that I need to practice.

Cool, I am, MMA fighting is awesome. Better than any other fighting Ive done. I train with www.jorgerivera.tv Going to UFC 50 with the Massachusetts Submission Academy II crew to get in on the action, on the 22nd.

well you seem very dedicated so i hope you take this the right way. keep drawing and dont be offeneded by this crit but you need to really study the structure and volume of the figure the understructure as well. grab an anatomy book and make it your god. look at the life drawing section here as well.

when your using your pencil try to go very light at first and slowly build up the structure. going too dark too fast will kill any drawing. try to build confidence in your strokes (im still working with this) try to figure out where that arm goes and then draw it instead of making random circles trying to figure out where it goes...does that make sense? you seem like you enjoy drawing so definately keep doing it but if you want to make this a career be prepared to make it the better part of your life. almost all of the great artists spend at least 6 or 8 hours a day drawing. wes i hear spends around 10 hours a day...and it shows in his work. you have to be dedicated. you have to be determined to get better if it is going to happen. good luck man ill check up on this thread in a while. peace out
