    Arnold Schwarzenegger (New and Improved)

I decided to resculpt the head for my Arnold Schwarzenegger statue. Hope you like it.

Combination of tradition and digital, body was done in clay and head sculpt in zbrush, digitally scanned into zbrsuh to size head etc.

New head been roughly placed and seem will not be visible on final product.

You can follow the progress of this and my other projects over on my facebook page: Matt Smith Designs | Facebook

Managed to do a low res test print today, no eye brows on this but will be on final version. Hope you like it.

not the best lighting but gives a good idea.

Looking pretty good, what jumps out though is his deltoids are not defined, just blends together with the pecks.

yeah this is what happens when you do this pose see picture below, and if you google search they are all pretty much the same minimal to no seperation.

the same even happens on your bigger guys like ronnie

I be damn, although it's slightly more visible I think. The line is still there but almost smoothed out. The smoothness on yours jumped out to me anyway.

First thought looking at the pictures "doesnt seem entirely anatomically correct" scroll down to reference photo-puke in my mouth-jesus Arnold wasn't anatomically correct. Great job gross reference.

Weirdly distorted as bodybuilders often are, I still think there's something off about the sculpt. Looking at the photo ref, it looks like Arnie's been shot in just-about 3/4 view; but in the sculpt it looks like the torso is sculpted near enough head-on, both halves using the proportions of the turned, nearer left side (his left) of the photo. Look at the lats in both.
There's something about the connection of the neck and traps to the torso, too. But that's more difficult to define.

But otherwise, nice work. The head is a good likeness and the print came out well.
    ...which is only my opinion.

I find that he looks like a flying squirell in a non-correct way.

Is that you painting the print of it? How did it come out? Are all the hard lines blurred? How much did it cost to print? I ask because I am very interested in learning 3d modelling in order to be able to print out sculpts.

    thanks for the comments guys

the pose is turned this way a lot of the time, his legs are turned towards our left and his body twists round to view at us. here are some pics to try and show but no the best i havent got my full reference with me but goves the idea of how his upper body twists round slightly.

hope these help butyeah maybe i turned him to much, dunno

here is another pic of skin, and also the cold cast bronze.

Good stuff! I agree with Vermis...something "feels" off....BUT your refs of Arnold hoding the "vacuumed" abs pose shows it probably is correctly modeled. Great sculpt!

    Ok, heres my tuppence.
I think the muscles under the pecs and above the abs look too big to me, they are less in the photos.
I think you should slightly define the abs so we see more a 6 pack, at the moment only see 4 muscles.
it actually feels like the abs are pushed into the stomach slightly too far.
I agree with earlier posts that you dont have enough deltoid definition, the pecs DO merge into the deltoids and there should be some defenition at the top.
I think the camera angles in photos are so low they dont show this so much.
    nipples look too smooth
i think the abdomen is actually slightly too long (ie, the distance between rib cage and waist is slightly too much)

There, thats enough from me, but if you want this to be the best, check these little tweaks
    But great job though
    Face is great !!

thanks guys for all the crits and comments, i agree with a lot that has been said and yeah if i had the time again i would change most of the things you say and some, but hey you have to say enough is enough at some point and call the sculpt finished even though i feel no sculpt is ever finished, you just have to stop working on it and move onto next project. Again thanks fellas
