Some real progress !
http://ctrlpaint.com/library/ has a lot of great stuff which could help you. I suggest doing what the author recommends in a lot of his videos : working greyscale only at first. Getting the right values in the right place (without the trouble of dealing with colors) has helped me a lot so far.
Thanks Croco! I have seen many videos from ctrl paint.
I will try to adhere to grayscale painting, and see how it goes from there.
Can't resist color! here is a sketch:

Hey Mepainter, thanks for stopping in on my SB. I appreciate it. You have some decent progress here. I think if you keep working hard you'll see much improvement. Like you I am new to the whole digital thing, I started with the tablet in December, and I'll say that it's very important to learn edge and brush control. I know it's been mentioned but Matt Kohr has some great vids at ctrlpaint for free, and awesome accompanying exercises. Also recommended earlier were some good books, mainly Gurney. I'm reading this one now, among numerous others. But I already see some progress in your tablet use, just work to define certain things, and leave others to the imagination. Most importantly, Keep at it!
Thanks, I-stray. i appreciate your encouragement and advice.
Here is another landscape study..using PS
I've been quite busy.. and hadn't had the time to sketch anything.
