Your constructions are starting to look more solid, which is great. For your paintings, your values need much more contrast than they have now to make your forms read, and studying composition will help to direct the flow of your illustrations more.

love your sketchbook, awesome use of color and those portraits are gorgeous.
you make your environments looks so real, but when you "zoom in" they are so simple... I really wan't to be able to do that!
Yoooooooooooo!! I haven't updated at all for awhile because I had my highschool finals. You know I had to read schoolshitandstuff and I was pretty stressed out. Now I'm free though and schools is kinda over for me which means I have a lot more free time to draw and paint. Here is some of the shit I managed to do since my last post
Some gestures from my mind
Experimenting
Character designs
A stufy of Emma Watson. Wanted to use textured brushes a bit more than usual and see how that goes. I like the result
Wanted to draw something from that perspective
A random veru quick face
Wanted to apply a couple of cloud studies I did earlier, but then I kept painting for awhile and this came out. Still quite unfinished though
A ramdom doodle
A simple cloud study
Same thing
Some more of that shit we call experimenting
A lighting study that I never finished, but I thought I'd post it anyway
Study on color and lighting. I think the colors turned out okay

@MrFrenik: Thanks for the critique!! I'll try to work on composition and contrasting values.
@Elias Leonard: Thanks so muchIt's weird to hear someone compliment my environments.
@V3T: Thanks!!
@Joe777k7: Thank you and I will keep posting a lot of studies.
Another quick update for today!!!! Really liked the lighting in a picture I saw so I had to do a study of it.
I think it went pretty well and I'm really enjoying experimenting with different brushes too

A quick update again : P Another study on the same lighting scenario. Didn't go as well as the last one, but I'm still happy with it.
Thanks for looking!

Great progression in this pages. Your skin tones are really impressive, very natural.
Just wanted to post this Illustration I've been working on the last couple of days. I wanted to convey a specific lighting scenario and test some new things. Overall I think I did okay. It's not perfect and I fucked up the anatomy in many ways, but I'm still happy with it. Also learned like a LOT while doing this, so that's also positiveI might still change some things around later, but for now I'll leave it be.
@JDBI: Thanks a lot!! That's good to hear
Thanks for lookingC&C always appreciated!!

I keep forgetting how young you are and then it hits me how good you already are. Keep this all up and you'll be ahead of the curve in no time!
I've had a couple of very lazy days, so I haven't done much art. Here's something quick that I managed to do tonight. Nothing special though : P
@MrFrenik: Thanks a lotI will keep it up. I'll try to do even more, because frankly, I don't think I'm doing enough art everyday at the moment.

wow awesome updates!! Renderings are killer awesome! Cant wait to see more![]()
Some lighting and color studies + a dress study. Those ball studies were done without a ref, so they are probably fucked up. Dunno. I'll keep doing color and lighting studies the whole weekend, but after that I'll move on to composition and environment stuff. I'll do that for a week and after that I think I should study some more of that anatomy shit.
Thanks for looking![]()

Another quick update!! The first is a no ref dress. Tried to apply what I learned from the study I did earlier. The second is a still life and it's actually my first digital still life. Probably going to do a lot more of them.
Thanks for looking : P

Is this Susan Coffey? Totally looks like her! Just the head is a little too small in comparison to the rest of the body IMO.
A lot of awesome studies throughout your sketchbook, they look really well.
BTW, am I mistaken or was this study http://www.conceptart.org/attachment...6&d=1357168307 of yours a daily deviation on DA?
http://www.conceptart.org/showthread.php?t=267414 - c&c welcome
wow dem spheres!!! Really awesome. Still very inspiring seeing your progress with painting. Im learning a thing or two by seeing these studiesKeep going!
@ANtY93:Thanks! Yeah that's Susan Coffey. A gorgeous lady :3 Yeah I think it's a bit too small too, but I'll do better next time : P. You are mistaken, unfortunately. But yeah thanks for commenting
@Joe777k7: Haha Thanks! Glad you learned something from them : ) I will keep going foshooo!!!
I thought I'd post these, semi- quick- generic- fantasy characters, I did today. Nothing special, but I'm trying to post everyday, so it's something.
Thanks for looking![]()

Only one thing to post here today. It's a 5-hour study. I liked the lighting an colors on the reference picture so I decided to paint it. Learned some things while doing it :3
Thanks for looking : )

Looking good, Papu! I think it's good to do quick studies like these, actively trying to observe what you're attempting to learn, and then spending some time on something imaginative to see if you've ingrained into your brain what you needed to. If you're imaginative work doesn't cut it, then study some more. Each time you'll pick something up you didn't before. Just be careful not to get caught into a 12-hour session of needlessly rendering a painting to a photoreal finish when you're just trying to do a study - waste of time (something I'm trying to get much better at). Keep it up, man!
Hello Papu thank you for commenting on my sketchbook,I don't post much these days, time spend editing the files and uploading and the obligation of replying to comments I can use to do more work. I'm glad I took the time to go through yours. I am totally loving it. going through it I could feel this grip on my neck tightening. It normally happens when I am anxious about something in a good way. with a bigger push MAYBE my stuff will be at this level soon. I'll subscribe and watch because I know you are at that border line about to break in to the upper tier. shit's gonna get real for you when It happens ;D a few questions! where did you get these images? I would loove~ to do a study on them for lighting.

you mentioned the models name but I'm being tremendously lazy by not doing a google search for it :s
keep it up! you've inspired me big time today
If I happen to comment on your sketchbook, please don't feel obliged to comment on mine. use that time instead to get back to work.

Very nice start, your digital painting's have definitely improved a lotI'd say focus on your figure drawing studies more, once you've got that in the bag you'll be able to take your painting's to a whole new level! Keep up the hard work
art is never finished, only abandoned~Leonardo da Vinci
@luthertaylor: Thanks man! The Images are both from Susan Coffey's deviantart page. I'm pretty sure her username is just SusanCoffey, so it shouldn't be hard to find : ) And yeah, your stuff can totally get to this level, if you just work hard. Thanks again : P
@ezekrialase: Thank you! Yeah I'm going to go back to studying anatomy and stuff soon, so you'll be seeing figure drawing studies from me.
Wanted to try to apply some of the stuff I learned from yesterdays study, so I did a noref painting. Kinda meh, because I rendered the face so badly but I think the colors look pretty good.

Thanks Papu! the non ref painting colours is great, I like how you are able to retain the mood from your studies into it![]()

hi dude
very good start for a sketchbook, you rendering are pretty cool
you should do tons of ref studies before doing non ref, frustration is your ennemy . i was told to do it for one year before trying from my mind.
good luck with your next one
Hey Papu you're killing it homie. That no-ref came out great as did #76. Not much to say that I don't think you'll figure out on your own with time.( or basically that I know you already don't(damn)lolz) Lots of promise man, keep it up!
Today's study : ) Took about 5 hours and this time I was concentrating more on the rendering than anything else. The reference pic was pretty lowres, so I had to make up some of the details. I think it looks pretty good. Learned some things again
@luthertaylor: Thanks man.
@zou:Thank you. I don't agree with, not doing no-ref studies though. I think it's important to see what you've learned, from time to time. Thanks again : )
@Stray: Thanks dude. Will keep it up : P
@MrFrenik: Thanks man. Yeah I always try think about, what exactly am I trying to learn from a study, when I do it. I gotta say, sometimes it's really hard not to render too much though. I'm always like " a bit more detail there and there. I should render that skin some more etc." I quess I should try like 2 hour studies and only concentrate on the thing I'm trying to learn.
Damn the face on that previous post of mine looks bad. Like really bad. UGGHGHHGHGhhhhhhhh. Next time I do a portrait from imagination, I'm going to focus on getting the facial features and rendering right.
Uploaded two version, cause you can't see many details on the smaller one.

Sick study man! Very strong texture and value controll. Love it!
Some great stuff here, dude. I felt like your fantasy character sketches lacked a little movement in their poses. Perhaps try starting with a stronger line of action
That's really the only thing I could crit on though, haha. Keep at it - I'm eager to continue being inspired by you!
Was the painting in post 76 made in only 5 hours? And i'm in love with the eyes on post 84, I'm also 19 so these paintings are awe inspiring :0
Decided to stay up all night and watch Freaks and Geeks. Starting to regret that decision....fucking tired already. Anyway I still managed to something. I wanted to apply the stuff I learned from that study. I think I rendered it pretty well, but I kinda fucked up the colors. I mean the skin is too blue/green, so I think it kinda just looks like she has blue/green skin. Also screwed up the hair. Oh well.... Anyway thanks for the comments guys! Too tired to answer to them now, but I'll do that the next time I post.

@Lateman: Thanks man!
@Brakken: Thanks for the crit. I need to get better at that. Fortunately I'm going back to studying anatomy and gestures etc.(next week) so that shouldn't be a problem for long. Atleast I hope so. Thanks for the compliment too : D
@Robbinoks:Thank you. Well, I can't say it was exactly 5 hours, but more or less. It's not that hard to do studies quick, once you understand the basic things you need to paint. 19 is a good age to start taking things seriously, so start practising hard now.
Probably going to post something else today, but I started an illustration for the weekend and I thought I'd upload the first step. Also tried a new thing with the sketch part. That is, thinking about where the light hits. Usually I do that after I start painting.
Anyway, Thanks for the comments and thanks for looking![]()
