    Smile Sketch Book of Timothy

    Hi there!

    I'm Timothy from India. I've been struggling to get into the habit of sketching. Struggling because I'm a master procrastinator! Hopefully, starting this sketchbook thread will make me stick to the routine.

    I'm an IT support person by profession but do art stuff at other times. My immediate goals are to learn anatomy and perspective. My ultimate goal? Well, to put on paper or pixels what I see in my head

    And so, here it begins!

    yours,
    Timothy

    Hi there,

    @Heyriel: Yeah, let's battle it!

    @Psychobuddy: Thank you very much.

    Here are my first set of sketches. They were done over the last few weeks. With at least a couple of days between them. Will be more regular after this!

    Here's another two. The first one's mannequin was done in snatches over two days. Perspective is hard to learn along with anatomy indeed! I'm having difficulties depicting the arm look like it's being rotated directly behind. My attempts look like it's being tilted towards the vanishing point. Must try it again tomorrow.

    Hi,

    Here are some more sketches I did. Not blaming CA, but the downtime threw me into a spell of procrastination. Well, hopefully I'm out of it.

    The below two, this pose seemed so easy when I though of it... Was just not happy with the first one, so I went and did the second one. I realized how weak I'm with the musculature. I should do some study about the muscles as well and not concentrate on poses alone. Another difficulty I faced was to distribute the weight along the frame. Now, no matter how many times I rubbed at the lines, they still seem stiff and robotic to me.

    Hi Keven_, Care! Thanks for stopping by!

    @kevin_, it's a pity I'd not started this earlier! It was mighty hard to keep drawing before. Checked your SB and I think it's amazing!

    @Care, thanks! Glad you like it

    Alright, here are some more sketches I did over the past few days.

    I'm now concentrating on the head and hands. Using Loomis and a mixture of other sources.
    And I now realise that the head of the girl in the middle is too small!

    And that's a lousy sketch of A Pensive Moment!

    I'm kinda proud of this one. This could be my first properly constructed(almost) hand! From the bones up! I think the thumb is a little too big though.

    Nice start for your sketchbook. Always be curious about the world around you try and sketch everything you think looks interesting to you.
    What helped a lot for me was to slow down and draw less but think more about what I'm going to do. Try and think of every stroke your doing and why your doing it.
    keep having fun learning and exploring worlds
    till next time

    Construction and Anatomy. Very nice but dont forget Action, throw some gestures in there so you can see how the bones and muscles work. Also do some stuff from your own brain, it helps you know what you are picking up from your studies and it also helps you retain what you are learning from the studies longer. Nice meeting you!

    Thanks, Wingal! I usually do a lot more "action" drawing than the stuff I've put here. Had wanted to slow down and study what's going on from the bones up. And been itching to to draw some dynamic stuff for some time now. So I'll probably attempt them the next time I get to sit down with my pencil

    Hello,

    A lot of things came up which caused me to lose my pace and stop drawing for a short wh. Even though I'd not been uploading, I've been drawing more or less steadily the past month or so. And here they are. I've been doing all this with little or no human guiding or supervision this past session so I might have been going about the wrong way for all I know. So, any honest critique or advice would be very appreciated!

    Oh, I've uploaded 26 images. So this page might take a while to load, haha!

    I think you're starting to get a good grip on the human figure with the studies, but try and supplement with working from observation too. And i don't mean just the human figure. Open your visual library and you'll open up your mind. In short, i think you cqn take it up a notch with the subject matter. Just my two cents. They do ots of model classes in India btw?

    Hey walnut! Thanks!

    I'm a little scared of the results I'd get from drawing others subjects (I hope this is what you meant) but it doesn't matter with anatomy because I like it so much. I know it's stupid and irrational. Guess it's high time I steeled myself and started with it something new

    I don't know about model classes in India. All that I've drawn are from my head and the gestury ones were just copied off images I found online.
