Sick stuff man. Watching you work in san fran was totally a mind fuck. Talk about taking a round about route to a finished product! Its something to keep in mind when im obsessing over the finish of a piece instead of just rippin and letting it flow.

How long do you normally spend on a piece and how many times does it usually change idea in the process? I dont know if thats a question that can be answered....?

Man, I'm sure I already told you this in person, but damn, I love the graphic look that pretty much all of your stuff has. Those last colored pieces are especially tasty.

    Cow

cburt, it's more like the picture builds itself, i don't usually start with the composition, i just doodle then try to maintain a balance in the picture dynamics as the elements are drawn one after each other. bad habit but it's more fun that way. as for characters, i usually have a very rough idea when i start, it can be a shape, a personnality or just some color scheme, it really depends.
n0fish, as a teenager, i used to be a shameless rip off/wannabe philippe druillet;moebius;sienkiewicz. As i grew older i tried to develop my own way of drawing but i guess i can't help being influenced by things i see around me...i wish i could paint and draw like phil hale. then i would order some craig david singing skills and be a happy man. or maybe not.
layil, it's hard to answer that question. it depends on the job, when i do illos or artsy-graphical stuff, time is not really an issue, i just have to draw a picture, so it can be 15mins up to 3 days (usually 1 or 2 hours seem to be good for me to spend on an image, since i can then bring some definition and start to add some details without overdoing the polish and killing the roughness. if i stop before one hour, i tend to overlook things and the picture will retain all the mistakes and bad habits, so i now force myself to spend a bit more time and fix flaws when i can see them). When i have to design things, i have to take into account a lot of different parameters like context/stroy/scenario/gameplay, function, ergonomy, and so on. so most of the time is devoted to thinking and developping the concept without doing actual drawings, rendering and representations are just extra stuff to communicate with other people, so even if the drawing in itself can be pretty quick, it's the time that i spend beforehand that matters in that case..
On the other hand, when i just want to sketch for fun, it looks like the demo i did during the workshop. i'll just throw some random shapes, overpaint them till i finally see something i like.
ryu, i won't marry anyone from the same sex as me, since i don't want to rot in hell and have a soare ass. thanks anyway. and i work in paris.

to the rest of you, thanks a lot for taking time to write those comments. sorry for not replying to everyone this time, got lots of work going on right now.
    peace.

You've got to be one of the most influential and inspirational people around. Those digital paintings are nuts.. the last one is one of my favorites to date.

Rawr! Now I must attack my sketchbook with some ink. Thank you as always.
