A real shame more people didn't enter, I thought this was a great topic and would have liked to see more concepts of it.

Dr. Harbinger: Love your style and your original idea for the theme. I remember when the 3CH weekly activity used to be around, I used to try and think of the craziest take on the topic that no one else would have. Keep up the good work, and since I see you are new on the forums, welcome to CA!

As for my own, I like my sky, could have done better on the cliffs. Color palette I'm happy with but maybe could have used my values to seperate the pyramid being built a little more from the sky. Admittedly rushed toward the end to get it done, but all in all I think it reads well and the story and composition are there. On to finish my Creature of the Week

    Thumbs up

Honestly, I'm just happy to be here!

Stumbled upon this site couple of days ago and got blown away... This is like the holy grail of artistic advice and inspiration. You guys seriously rock! And I'm looking forward to exploring more of this site/forum.

As for your illustration, man - The Sky is indeed awesome! But since it's so gorgeous and I'm such a huge contrast fan - can I make a suggestion? [Just an amateur here, so don't take this very seriously, but] say, if you put a little more emphasis on the sky by desaturating & darkening the foreground a little bit, like this:

It would give it a little more romantic and mysterious feel. As well as clearly establish the light source.

Just an idea. And I hope it's not rude editing other people's work. If it is, I'm sorry, I'll delete it.

    Either way, awesome illustration!

I also looked at your sketchbook thread - an inspiring evolution, man.

Hey that's a good idea! I kept trying to go lighter or darker with the sky, and once I had my values in place on the ground I never thought to change them instead. Thank you for taking the time to do that

OMG my sketchbook, LOL. It's so old. I really need to update it as I have literally hundreds of newer sketches and paintings to show. So sad. I'll have to work on that this weekend, check it again in a few days and then tell me what you think
