My name is Deena Edwards
I want to work in the industry as a concept artist of children's book illustrator for young adult readers. I am finishing my Thesis at the Academy of Art. I would like to be considered for a scholarship to TAD to continue my never ending learning of all medias in art. Particularity digital painting. I am currently an art teacher in Texas seeking to improve my artistic ability.

Your work is definitely coming along well. I mentioned in someone else's critique, the use of references and real life studies (as well as studies of master painters) will make your work about a thousand times better.

It looks like you have a solid grasp on anatomy (you may want to flip the image horizontally to catch your mistakes as you go) but as for lighting, it comes across that you need some work on it. Again, real life studies, master painting studies will solve this in time.

For wherever you want to go in the next five years, find the people that are doing what you're doing, and start talking with them. Find the credits for video games or movies that you love, look at the artists, and start emailing them questions. Be honest, be straight up, you'll get the responses you need. If you want it hard enough, it'll show, and the help will just start flowing out to catch you.
