Wow, that looks awesome Pixeltuner!
Figured I'd give E.O.W. a try after lurking for a long time. Not up to the quality of most people around here but hoping to pick up some tips and improve! Some thumbnail ideas...
Please drop by my sketchbook and help me improve!

Improved the composition a bit, not sure the concept is very strong though.
Need to study landscapes... to say the least

Some thumbnails. I like the perspective of 1 but with the skyscrapers of 7.
I think I should call this finished now, will see which one I´ll post in the finals
@monkeybread - great that you joined this round! great start curious about your progress
@Dayle - I like 2, 3 and 9 most, I think they have lots of potential, but that´s my opinion
@FlameUnquenchable - I did a quick paintover of your image of what I thing you could improve, hope you don´t mind, it´s just my opinion of course, I used just desaturated yellow-oranges and some more saturated cool violettes and red violettes for the forground, which should make your palette more harmonized, also see how the line point to your focal area, again, I hope it´s ok for you and please correct me if I´m wrong
@pixeltuner - great one!
@Android411 Holy cow Android...3 on the go. real keen eh?If I was to pick either the 2nd or 3rd. I think the 2nd is rendered nicer and has a more dynamic viewpoint, but the 3rd one is a bit clearer on the concept. In either case I'd work more on the actual sandstorm...That is the main part of the concept after all
: 2
It's a bit contrasty (lots of balancing to come later I think) and I think I went a tad overboard with the lighting on the dust from the city lights...kinda makes it look like fire. But dust storms without the impressive scale seemed a bit plain coloured so I tried to amp it for effect. Let me know what you think on this.

Hi! I have been working on this idea of a desert planet with cities up on elevated platforms. This sandstorm is much larger than the usual ones...
A little hour sketch I came up with might have to do it in a different perspective
A unexpected sandstorm occured during the balloon race people was forced to head back to the city to be protected from the vicious storm anyone who is caught in the storm experienced severe injuries or in rare cases death
I decided to go with the evacuation idea, here is my first wip.
Level 1 Gladiator: Andabatae
Quite quick, but pretty much done
Came up with some thumbs/moods.
Would really like some feedback on which of these you like best, if any.
I feel like tiling these takes away from some of the individual moods, but I guess it helps to see what pops
This is a very inspiring E.O.W so far
Oceaninc I love your color studies my favorite is the 2nd on on the middle right
Android 411 I like what you got so far but I would add a little more to bring out the composition
some thumbs and a very rough sketch so far.. don't know if I'm gonna make it in time though
