    Marc Huizinga's sketchbook [Daily updates!]

    Hello everyone,

    I'm Marc Huizinga, 23 and with a fiery passion for art. Particularly Comicbook art. Due to events that took place, regarding the passing away of my father I'm in the middle of finding a place to live which takes up most of my time. To get my mind of things I try to become active again on several forums. I'll try to upload something every day or two and I hope people would take the time to look at my work. Without further ado, let's get my works up here!

    Thanks and have fun checking out my sketchbook!

    Sincerely,
    Marc

    Great start! Are your pictures from imagination or reference?
    Keep going!

    Hey Dahlium, thanks!

    These were indeed from my imagination, I use a combination of books such as andrew loomis's books and george bridgman. Ofcourse I also have certain influential artists.

    Familiarizing myself with the muscles in our arms. These are actually quite old but I still find them very useful to practice, I'll do some soon again.

    Welcome to CA! I really really like the style of your faces. Would you mind sharing with me who your influences are? I would like to check them out.

    Hello FenixN and thank you very much!

    Some of my influences are Adam Hughes, Jim Lee, David Finch, J. Scott Campbell, Michael Turner, and many more.

    When it comes to these faces though, I'd say it has Finch's shading, and Jim Lee's sense of realism. I myself want to go down a road that's realistic, yet not TOO much. Adam Hughes is very good at that by the way.

    Legs and different head structures. Rather old pages from my sketchbook despite how much I churn out. Also shows how I look at the knee joint.

    Practicing my ''symbols'', getting to the point where the construction is all inside my head and I can draw my standard construction whenever needed, and work on top of that.

    Don't mind some of the random faces and eyes, I sometimes like to get the most out of my paper, so if there's space then there's a good chance I WILL use it!

    Thank god I once again can see all attachments again.

    Constructing the head properly, half-rendered because I just wanted to practice the construction and see what kind of things I could do with the face.

    Some general day to day practices, eyes, headshapes, good ol' Abe Lincoln and Einstein, and a Wonder Woman portrait. I have the terrible disease that right after I finished something I think it looks decent/good/a job well done, but5 minutes after I can find 20 areas to improve on. The irony!

    @kevin_:
    I'm a huge sucker for them too, thanks, I will!

    @MrWolf:
    Will do, thanks for the comment!

    @Psychobuddy:
    Hah, you recognized them! I've totally adopted his style of drawing, and from there I start delineating things to a point where I like them.

    Also, more updates! Most are just goofy experimentations. Aspecially the second page, where I try to put some characteristics down.

    Man it's been ages since my last upload, I had a lot to deal with these last few days, so before going to bed, here's a small 10 minute sketch. This is my version of a Wonder Woman in her teens.

    I know what you mean brotha, I had the same problem before about not working on the same drawing for hours and hours at end but I persevered drawing everyday, studying and copying loomis books and Bridgeman at about 8 hours a day. And when I started drawing stuff from imagination, I noticed I didn't have that problem anymore. I loved working on a piece for 8 hours straight and weeks on a time. As you draw more, time ceases to be a burden. Keep drawing! Your stuff looks great in the making.

    First upload in a long while. I am so sorry but life came knocking on my door, it still is but I'm trying to look on the brighter things of life and decided to upload things again. These sketches were made quite some time ago and aren't recent at all, but just for the sake of improvement I decide to post them. In a couple days I'll be posting recent stuff I imagine.

    A couple of my favorite artists are Greg Capullo, Michael Turner, David Finch and more. Sometimes I try to see if I could match one of their pieces skillwise, it's both a good practice and nice way to gauge where I'm currently at. Hope you like it!
