Just a little sketching, currently working on my value study of my character should be done by the end of this weekend... or at least it better be...

Here's how far I've gotten on my value study. I sort of hit this mental road block with it last night. It's frustrating when what you want to do and what you can do are one two completely different levels. I think I need to go back and do some more studies before I attack this thing again... ugh so much for getting this thing done in a timely manner.

    Hey man, great sketchbook!

When doing value studies (and when painting digital in general) I would stay away from using white backgrounds. Try some 50 to 70 % gray. This will make it easier to add highlights and is way nicer on your eyes

I love your latest update, the values and skintones are great, keep up the hard work!

Haha Thanks Ecki, my eyes can definitely do with a break.

Sketches, face studies... definitely nice just to let my pencil do what it wants.

Nice work! I like the faces, just keep em coming

On the painting, I get the feeling that you're thinking too much in color and too little in value, try to observe the values more closely. I always like to put a Black layer on top of the painting and set it to "Saturation". That way you can always turn it on to check if your values are readable and interesting.

Hmm interesting advice ecki! I think I may try that, keep on forgetting to change the background, from something other than white...

Nice updates man! The values in your paintings are kick-ass!

I love the hard work you've put into hand studies. Really persistent effort there!
Try to make your lines more "sexy" by adding more line-weight and try to "scribble" less over the same lines. Try to make one deliberate line and stick with it.
I suggest to do some really light construction drawings and then one more heavy final linework on top. If you screw one line up, just recognize it and leave it, if you repeatedly draw over it, you'll just draw attention to the mistake.

But your work is really paying off, I can see improvement! Keep it up

Thanks again for the advice ecki! Yeah lines can do with some sexing up.

A sketchbook justing isn't complete without a Dave Rapoza color study! For those of you who do not know who Dave Rapoza is, go check out his work. Now.

    Oh and a value study.

Face studies, sorry for bad photo quality! Doodlin, and my first serious attempt at a colored self portrait! I first did a value study and then painted over it in color directly, didn't use overlay. Muust make progreeesss.

Coming along very nice! Although I would suggest staying away from browns as shadows. Aim for deep reds or dark purples, violets. You began doing that in the last post. Good luck!

    Thanks for the tip gucci!

whoops! Long time since I've posted, studying abroad can keep a guy busy. Just a bunch of loomis pose practicing, trying to use the pen more. At the end is my rough for bloodsport 13, sadly I didn't get it done in time, but I'm going to try and see it through none the less!

Thanks Girlwiththehat! I wouldn't say I got a style yet, but thanks anyways!

So I decided not to go ahead and finish my bloodsport 13 work and instead will apply what I learned about time management to number 14. Here's what I got done and a half finished study of a cool colossus illustration. I will finish this next one.... I swearz.

    Thanks Chevy!

Lol so to continue my failure streak I wasn't able to get my work finished...again! I did put in more work and I am learning more about how I should go about this. I'm not super stoked about failing again, but I think I'm making progress, which is important!. Once I return to the U.S. I should have a lot more time to figure all this out.

So here's some half assed studies and the two pieces meant for bloodsports 14, both in my personal opinion faarr from done, though I have no idea how far I can even take my work... hmmm.
