    Angry Action/fighting Poses

    Hey everyone,

I was wondering would anyone here happen to know a good place for action/fighting poses stock? I really wanted to challenge myself and try some new things but I'm just having such a hard time...Any other tips about such poses would be greatly appreciated!

For real action poses I find it very helpful to take screenshots from movies to catch the motion and movement of the body. Analyze the pose and draw it yourself.

    Try it out, it's fun.

Try action poses out with a long mirror.

Movies and martial arts (UFC has some cool ones) are great. Also, look at sports. Ive found some really cool poses in footage of the olympics.

You can find pretty good action when you go to stores that have "amazing" deals or when parents fight over the cool toy for Christmas.

Sketching soccer games in the park yields some pretty interesting poses... Especially if the players are all high...

The anime series Samurai Champloo has lots of great fight scenes. Interesting choreography and so on.

Are you thinking in single-image terms or sequences, like comics or storyboards?

Prospect Park, actually. Watching the local Jamaicans play soccer right after passing a joint around is quite a treat...

The local hipsters can be equally entertaining. Especially with their new tightrope-walking fad.

Oh yeah! Shoot, I forget what it's called, but I totally had some friends like 5 years ago who got really into that.

And OmenSpirits - no, no net. It's like two feet off the ground. Super badass.

FACT: With the original run of the cabbage patch dolls, one of the parents
ended up with a broken leg during a riot and a store manager had to
defend himself with a baseball bat.

Action in art is a graphic illusion. If you copy a photo you will get accurate anatomical strain and imbalance and lighting and everything required to make something look real, but the odds of you getting the illusion of movement is very low. It is a great way to learn anatomy and get a feel for the real.

Quick gesture sketches from life or from the imagination, enhanced by reference will get you closer to your goal. Imo.
