    E.O.W Round #192: Museum Exhibit on the Robot Uprising

    E.O.W Round #192:

    TOPIC = Museum Exhibit on the Robot Uprising

    Next week (not this week) is the team activity! Go ahead & reserve your partners or ask around if you need one. Don't be shy, because it's very likely that you'll learn a lot from collaborating with someone who's more experienced or by working with someone who can improve by leaps and bounds through teamwork.

    - Post your finals in the finals thread!

    guilefine!

    No @ needing a partner. The tag team activity will be the activity following this week's EOW. Posting progress is completely up to you, but WIP's are encouraged because it shows people your design process.

    Welcome back.

    ^not too shabby in my eyes at all. I like the city and also how the man is staring at the viewer.

    Okay guys, so I think I'm going to start making FINALS threads for EOW's. You deserve to have more "thanked" posts by those who appreciate your artwork. It's an obvious correction to the voting format here and I'll enact it as soon as possible - this week. So from now on, post your final artwork in the FINALS thread. I'll be posting it soon.

    Quick sketchup, probably won't keep it, just playing with ideas. Robots visiting the robot uprising and independence war exhibit.
    Thought the idea of 'kid' robots with a teacher was a funny image.

    11th hour. I would have though more people would get down on this one.

    Robot's. Uprising. Museums. ROBOTS.

    Man, that shit would be crazy. I'm willing to be it will be an issue in the next 100 years or so. We'll have to make a decision to buy the household bot, or the defense bot. I'm definitely getting myself a monkey bot.

    Here's my idea. Failed robot uprising and the outskirts of the city have become a landmark and monument to the fallen.

    Entries and ideas are really great, Bnoch and Flame_Unquenchable, awesome stuff O_O

    really amazing work you guys!!! i hate to single anybody out, without at least replying to others, but i am short on time at the moment, so let me just say to Bnoch - amazing piece!!! great lighting!!

    ill get some replies in my next post! great stuff everyone though!!

    ----------

    ok heres a start to mine, just a base sketch after figuring out (trying to at least) the tricky perspective.

    this is going to be a connecting hallway from one time period to another in the uprising. (the exhibit would be strung together by connecting hallways, that would bridge the gaps of history throughout the periods of uprising) im going to add alot more to it, some main focal points, as well as some more minor decorative details. but holy crap the frigging perspective sucks. i am waaaaaay out of shape for attempting some grand Bnoch-esque scene here haha. oh well, its good excercise i guess.

    any help on this one would be highly appreciated! thanks!!

    I haven't done one of these in a year or more, figured I would get back into it with this one, since I love robots.

    A museum exhibit on the robot uprising? Sure... but in an orbital robot museum. Above a scorched Earth.

    A rough start on the background: (mid/foreground elements not added yet)

    nohoper: I like what you have so far; that completely reminds me of some of the diorama's at the Denver Museum
    Bnoch: That looks great so far. Are you by chance a fan of the Longest Journey series? The tech you have here reminds me a lot of what you see in Dreamfall. Good work

    Think I will try to get in on this one, even though there isn't a lot of time left. heh.
    Hush, little child, don't be afraid;
    As shadows twist and mind plays tricks;
    Won't you please come out to play;
    Not real screams, you're imagining things;
    Find what was hidden by the light of day;
    These nightmares are real, only in your mind;
    How slowly time ticks, when you're held by pixi tricks.

    Awesome, I sketched out another composition but I've been so busy with working OT I haven't had time to really do any drawing. I think I will get in tonight and this weekend and try to make the finals.

    Hey all, some really good images so far.

    bnoch: awesome, love that you put so much interesting detail into how the visitors actually interact with the exhibition.

    Here's a wip for mine. Loads to fix so thanks for the deadline extension!

    Alright, another slight change of plans. It seems that a new Team Challenge has come out of the woodworks, sprouted up from the inanimate concrete and is now alive again before our very eyes. It's been awhile since CA.Org has had a big team activity like this with prizes and what not. I don't think an EOW/IDW team activity for next week is good timing so it'll be postponed until a later date. Next week's EOW will be a regular one but I do encourage you to do this instead:

    Check this out:

    Team Challenge Sign Ups:
    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=244888

    These are the guidelines:

    Quote Originally Posted by Ian Barker View Post

    What is Team Challenge?

    Team Challenge is a lot like Team CHoW, where members of CA.org form teams to create a group of characters based on a theme... It's like regular CHoW, but diversified; rather than create only a group of characters, this time you are drawing a little bit from each of CA's activities: CHoW, COW, EOW, IOW, IDOW and POW! Using a little bit of each design field, you will together create a small piece of a unique and intriguing world. What kind of world? Well, we will reveal the theme soon; the next few days are for you to find your team and get psyched.

    Please read rules carefully!

    - - - Teams may consist of 2-5 members. Depending on the size of your team you will have a different work load. Pay close attention so that you do the correct work for your team size!

    Team of 2 must do (at least) character, creature, illustration.
    Team of 3 must do (at least) character, creature, illustration, environment.
    Team of 4 must do (at least) character, creature, illustration, environment, industrial.
    Team of 5 must do (at least) character, creature, illustration, environment, industrial, panels (2 pages).

    Character, creature and industrial design must have at least two views each (for example, front and back). These are not to be illustrations, but design sheets. Environment, illustration, and panels will be the full illustrations. The illustration should include at least two elements from your other pieces (ie character and industrial, or creature and environment, etc)

    If you want to do more than the required amount you are free to do so, but you must do the minimum or you will be disqualified.

    Find Your Team

    The theme for the challenge will be revealed shortly, but in the meantime use this thread if you're looking for teammates. If you would like to be assigned to a random team, make a post letting us know, and we will randomly team you up with others when the topic is revealed. You are free to form or join a team even after the contest has begun, it just might be trickier to find teammates. Everyone with a CA.org account is eligible. You can add or remove members from your team at any time, just please remember that if your team size changes, so does your minimum workload!

    The theme does not enforce any particular genre or time period, so if you would like to start throwing loose ideas around with your team you are free to do so.

    When you have found your team, come up with a team name and make a thread in this forum called "TEAM CHAL: Insert Team Name Here". This thread is where you and your teammates will post references, WIPs, see each others' progress and help each other along. Teams that stay active in their thread have a better chance of success! The focus of this competition is on team work. Creating a set of work that feels unified will help your chances.

    DEADLINE

    This is a 6 week challenge. We will reveal the theme on Sunday, July 15, and final submissions will be due on Sunday, August 23. This will run alongside regular weekly activities, so if you'd rather do those you still have that option.

    There will be PRIZES! They will be revealed with the theme, so hold tight.

    Any questions or suggestions can be posted in this thread as well.
