ROUND#265: Front-line Assault Beast

I'm honored to guest host this round my friends. Your mission: to design a creature bred for war as a front-line war beast! This creature should have strong offensive and defensive abilities that allow it to crash through enemy lines and wreak havoc. It should protect it's own troops while providing natural firepower during war. Be creative! How does this creature assault the enemy? How does it use it's defensive abilities?

Round Requirements:
- The creature must clearly show some natural offensive and defensive ability that it uses on the enemy troops.
- Bonus Points if you can show the creature in a battle scene using these abilities.

Can it be a ranged-weapon creature that is used alongside humans/aliens to push forward on the battlefield? Giving cover for the humans while spewing some kind of poison/acid?

This brief sounds good, very tempted to try my hand at a COW now. I have some ideas but they are related to Hive minD's question.

Also, would riders be allowed? Not with the intent of distracting from the design but more as a means of portraying scale and creature function in assiting the attackers?

Would it be possible to make this a 2 weeker? That way there would be more time to put into this awesome topic and more people might participate. Also theres a beter chance of getting the topic promoted with a longer deadline.

here's mine the plaguespreader A living tank/siege weapon that can shield its allies with it's carapace it spawns exploding toxic eggs that can melt through reinforced materials when near death it will speed up and ram the enemy and explode on impact

First idea :
The "prying" Mantis, shoving its sythes into the gates of the enemy keeps and prying them open, allowing for a contingent to pass through underneath, protected by the shielded tail of the mantis.

scorge: haha, man I must be way off the mark then, was supposed to be closer to a styracosaur-like creature...anyways these are just for brainstorming really...

ok enough toying around with shitty silhouettes...here's a rough composition, thinking of somekind of rhino-like charging beast, an army with these guys in the front-lines can do quite a bit of damage...quite feng zhu inspired at this point, will have to change that...
