Great robot arms! Some of them looks a bit messy (as in too many things going on in them), but that might be according to the brief....
And Kweli looks good as well, there's a sloppy randomness look that you managed to pull through even though it's pretty tight![]()

No real crits sorry, apart from with some of the AR painting the colours get a bit muddy,
keep at it man,
matt
Grandmassa Mr. Spect: See you peepin' the thread right now.. I'm posting, I'm posting!! Glad you like the Talib portrait.. Here's something completely different![]()
Sorknes: Yeah.. I wanted to try out a bunch of different stuff.. and some of 'em got a bit cluttered... I narrowed it down for the client though, and they're happy, so it's all good in the hood![]()
Eon: One of my favourites too, man! Glad you dig!
JailHouseRock2: ArtRage rocks, man! Dig the alchemy stuff you got goin' on! Thanks for droppin' in!
More artrage.. warmup speedy today... with a little PS tampering![]()

hey thats wicked' haha i was wait'n i think one of those was lurk'n in my apartment cant tell though i sqaushed it w/ my skateboard... i really dig its design an that new goute you droped is one of my all time favorites' keep ROCK'N
Spect: So now your bearings are all cluttered up with tentacle goo?![]()
'Nother ArtRage.. elephant this time... no idea why.. wanted to paint an elephant..and a zoom to show the sloppy brushwork.. haha.. when I do these, I stay zoomed out so I see the whole piece at all times, so they tend to get a bit.. chunky... that's part of what I like with these though

artrage seems to do you quite good...more confidence in there.![]()

Always think about:
lighting! design! perspective! proportion!
And (self)motivation is still everything.
nice! your brushstrokes are getting better and better.
i would next try working on some value studies maybe in artrage with some diff lighting schemes. i think you could improve on value range.

Loving the artrage stuff. Are you still using the free version?
Also love the robot arms.
Carnifex: Thanks man! It's insanely cool to paint in![]()
hp: Yup! Agreed! I'll spend some time getting more value in the next oneThanks!
max1975: Yeah.. still the free version, I haven't gotten around to getting the full version yet..Glad you like!
Speedpaint enviro.. both PS and ArtRage for this one.. trying to find a blend.. hehe.. Crits are very welcome! I need to get better at enviros![]()

Sweet lawd! This last one is awesome! Those brushstrokes are totally sex, i want artrage too now!! I mean, i was tempted before, but that latest one really has something going on! A crit to be polite is in order i think.. Some tree studies would do you good i think. They look a little weird, especially where the trunk goes thin, then thicker above the thin parts, which makes the tree look less elegant. I dig the execution of the trees, my only beef is the shape.
Ellie looks dope!
The idea in this one is pretty cool, but I think the artrage brushstrokes are drawing too much attention to themselves this time. Also the rock formations, especially on the left, look too big--like if I was standing next to them, I'd be taller than the bridge. That's a little tricky because it's certainly conceivable they could be that big, but to my eye it's throwing off the scale. I'd try dividing those up into smaller forms.
yall got the madd action in this one sooooo gggooooooooooooddddddddd i hope you keep play'n w/ it cause yall hit paydirt an i cant wait to see some more enviros' cheers'
awesome work man! the latest envio rocks! love this concept! - keep rockin man! never heard of ArtRage - is it worth a try?
Artrage is giving your digital work a real oil paints look! I think the way the brushstrokes remain unblended on the elephant give it a lot more character than if it had been smooth. Props on the water for that enviro, tough task!

That last one is really good, a step forward! The orange and blue doesn't have that muddy look at all and the strokes are really neat, you should keep going at mixing mediums

Hi man!
I like your last enviroment paintng. Great feeling of traditional media use. This is the effect I'm looking for in my paintings. I try ArtRage but this program doesn't offer so much freedom in mixing paintng like PS, so I decline. Maybe I must back to this program and try it again.
cheers

Slash: Thanks bro! Just got the full version of ArtRage at the office yesterday.. hehe.. Suddenly I can add thinners to my paint! *geekout*
max1975: Thanks for the crits and thoughts! I'll have a look at dividing the larger shapes and post an update!
Spect: Thanks, homes! Yeah, I'll do more of those fo' sho'! Starting to like doing enviros.. hehe
Josef K.: Glad you like! ArtRage is a soopah cheap program (full version for 25$) that simulates traditional media... and yeah.. definately worth a try! I love it! Here's the URL for the homepage.. they have a free version to download as well: Ambient Design
Eon: Thanks! Yeah, I kinda liked the chunky feel too![]()
Sorknes: Thanks Sorky! There's gonna be more ArtRage coming from this corner![]()
mariusz: Yeah, I revert to Photoshop for the stuff that ArtRage can't handle.. so it's often a mix of the two. ArtRage is so much lighter than Painter.. and I kinda like that the options are kinda limited. The full version supports layers and blending modes and imports/exports .psd files, so it meshes really nicely.
Ok.. a few sketches.. was outta country with my girlfriend for a screening of a bunch of shorts on the London Film School.. was an awesome, tight scheduled trip.. Big sorry to the CA people in London.. I wanted to meet all of you guys, but I didn't have time at all.. full throttle all day and we collapsed at the hotel every night.. heh.. Got a few sketches in though..![]()
Thanks for stopping in everyone! Really appreciate the comments![]()
freak'n rad every time tha hac is wicked an the sketches are on piont characters enviros paints sketches yall gunna bring down the house lets see some moe'
Yeah.. sorry for spamming.. Forgot a couple.. Did these for a client and I can show 'em now.. Kind of a rushjob, but there they are![]()
Left, right and an option to combine 'em into a panorama
[EDIT] Spect: Thanks homie! You're fast with the replies! Haha

damn i love that thing, you're a great painter but that one in particular you take it even further cause its really lovable. something about the colors. alright on second look the colors are fleshy and sexual and maybe... i need to get a grip on my mind lol

like itgreen colour scheme (heh) is more coherent and makes more sense for underwater scenery. perhaps use white stripes on the red for more agressive state? e.g. since you can't see red itself that well under water. (change to orange?)

last concept is really neat. your concepts are getting a lot better.
for some of the sketches of the lamppost and stuff a while back, i would watch the middle parts of your sketches. for instance the outline of the lamppost looks good but the middle is kind of confusing.

Ilustration and speedpainting enviroment shows clear improvement, more 3 dimensional aspect in form i think would make them more better (in perspective)

grenapples: Hahaha.. Awesome! Cool to see it resonated that much with ya! Sexual or notThanks!
Eon: Yeah, it's a blooper.. hehe.. Glad you like the sketches!
Carnifex: Thanks for the input, and the image! Makes a lot of sense! I'll try an orange and white thing on it for sure.
hp: Thanks! Good crit! Think it might be my tendency to jump straight into rendering that's the culprit for the centre areas getting a bit.. unreadable.. I'll keep it mind!
Nettle Mountain: Thanks! I'll try to get more stuff in there that describes the perspective better.
Warmup with ArtRageIt's just a turtle.. from reference.. I'm trying to get a bigger mental library of creatures, so a study seemed appropriate.. hehe..

I like that vivid palette in that last piece and how you often maintain that painterly look in your digital work. Wicked idea with the war octopus!

Busy man! Hehe. I totally love that sea turtle.
Keep a lil eye on your peopleses though. suddenly you have a little of that stiff pose thing on in several of your sketches there.... Keep it loose and build on it!![]()
