    Oksenbrutus: Thanks man

Slash: I'll be holdin' out all I want, cabron! Did I get to see the moleskine stuff from Paris before you posted on here? I think not...

Sorknes: Thanks for stopping by! Glad you like

Tornatozz: Wow.. thanks man! Appreciate it!

    petitemistress: here ya go

hp: Hey! Long time Thanks for the crit! I'm doing illustrations and previsualization work for a company called Desimal.. Advertising-ish... only now I'm doing more like digital fine art for a customer of them... Construction machines in weird settings and whatnot... it's fun!

A few sketchies... I started out doing a old game redesign thing, and wanted to do "Syndicate" by Bullfrog Games... I used to love that back in the day! Couple of those on here... that was put on hold pretty fast though, seeing as how me, Slash and a 3d-dude has entered the Steampunk Myths and Legends competition over at cgtalk... I'll be posting work from that as we go along

    Hey dCept!

Some nice pencils you have going on here.

I think my favorite is the colored version of the "Big Bunny."

    All the best,

Hey, nice update, creepy bunny and cool thumbs, dont know if its the scan, my monitor or just my love for big contrast, but the pencil could use a bit more, well, contrast, imho.

That project sounds exciting, looking forward to next update.

enthombed: My pleasure, dude! You're improving steadily! Awesome to see! Glad you still like my stuff

Oregano: Dude!! So glad to see you stop by, Shane! I dropped by your SB and your blog in return (I got a blog too, actually, drop by sometime if ya want!) Glad you like the Dunny Was fun doing that one!

Oksenbrutus: Takk for crit I could go for a larger valuerange in general in my pencils. Guess I have to set aside more time for 'em... or get faster

Sorknes: Thanks for dropping by, Sork! Shin is busy with school I think, we're using another 3d artist from a company called Pixelwork. He's awesome though... really really good at hard surface modelling!

maxetormer: Always a pleasure to see you in here, hermano! Glad you like the Dunny.. hehe... my girlfriend has developed a thing for kidrobot-ish vinyl toys, so it's rubbed off on me, and I do my own Dunny designs.. haha..

Righty... haven't updated in a while, again I scraped together some stuff I found at work, and a couple of the steampunk concepts to show you I really have to get my ass around to scanning soon... someone kick my ass about it!

First few are speedies... warmups and such, the Totoro with the Dunny-girl was for a friend who had her birthday the other day... she's into dunnies, ghibli and scrapbooking amongst other things The heads and the underwater enviro sketch is for the atlantis/steampunk contest over at cgsociety. The diggers, thumbs and last images is stuff I did for work. Client of ours that requested them They were printed on 140x100cm aluminum plates, and painted in the same resolution in 200dpi.. heavy ass files for sure to be working on when the layers start stacking up

At least some stuff to show after shaming myself with being very very inactive on here... sorry guys!

Hey Fredrik, damn it was a long time since I talked to you.
Finally got my winter holiday, so now I've got some more time on my hands to hang around ca.

You look productive, love the panance redesign, made me laugh.

So how are things, progress, job going?

Quick crit, think you've heard it already, more structure, you need to describe the form and planes more clearly. One brushstroke, one plane. Contrast between atmosphere and solid mass. It'll add more variation into the paintings aswell. Beacuse right now you're letting most of the textures do the variation job.

    Cheers!

Hurricane: Good to talk to you the other day! And many many thanks for the thoughts!! They really made an impact! I'll try to be more online

Pencilator: Congratulations on a finished semester! I'm doing good! I'm trying to be productive, but I've been in a bit of a slump lately... Got a huge kick in the nuts by Hurricane, so I'm getting out of it again Thanks for the crits!

mariusz: Thanks man! Glad you like I'll be posting updates on that one soon!

Just a quick in-between-sketch at work today... just liked the idea of the juxtaposition between the sci-fi-ish gun and the simpleness of the girl I'm totally aware that there are some value relationships that are out of whack, and it could use some sharpening of her features and whatnot.. that being said though, bring on the crits

Merry Christmas Fred!! hope you're having a good one with Saira!
your latest sketch needs MOAR cowbell; the way the dress falls off the boob on the right is kinda awkward...
also when working in greyscale, don't be afraid to push those values, it'll translate into a broader set of hues when you swap to color!

petite: Happy New Year, Dina! Had a really good holiday seson! Got awesome art gifts from Saira and we've had an awesome time with lotsa friends, too much to eat, movies, DS, Wii and PS3 Thanks for the boob-crit! I'm trying to not only say "I'll keep it in mind" when I get crits and "apply it to the next piece", but go back and fix shit, so I'll have a second look at that one!

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!! I hope you all get a productive and inspired 2009!

Starting out the new year with some pencils and a few thumbnails done for the CGsociety-challenge. Some of these are moleskine (the small one) and some on A4 even though they're scaled roughly the same here
I've posted a thought on a door opening mechanism for the same thing.. hope that thing gives off a believability as to function

that's some nice costume concepts, some of them even have a little "knights of the old republic" feel to them the "vibration creature" is quite a scary bugger too.
p.s.: i have a 2008 revue thread in finally finished...maybe you can bump it?

the more i see of the Atlantis project, the more I WANT to see!!
Happy New Year Fred, I was looking over your whole sb thread and you've come a long way (while juggling a full time job, eh? damn.) keep going man! I'm gonna try to catch up

A little steampunk train of thought for the Atlantis project... Steampunk involves steam powered machines, like those massive old trains, right? how would steam disperse under water? how would it affect the environment? the clothing? A female leader I suppose has to showcase the strengh of her people, but that did not come through in your current suggestions... their mastery of the power of steam powered engines should show clearly in her costume methinks...

anyways just some things to maul over, I might be completely off the mark mind you... o.o
    Have a good 09!

yes!happy new year. i like your new sketches. watch out on this one http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1229445537 i think you used to strong color for the wagon. with that much green around it should have a less saturated color reflection (i think so, even if it has a bit comical style)

keep it up and thanks for dropping by. when will we see you sketching on sundays?

    Happy New Year!

The three faces together, and the guy standing with the back to us is really great.

Could push some more values though.

The challenge stuff looks like it's coming along, can't wait to see the rest. The costume concepts looks good.

    Hi man!

I think there is something courious in propositions 4 and 6 in the "Atlantis Reborn" female leader costume concept.
You should push a bit further those two. Of course I don't say that this spheary helmet is a really 100% good idea but maybe something simmilar to this or a half of this shape...

Hey man, nice updates. Looking at your work, I think you should add more value relationships, there isn't enough range in your work it seems.

Those last digital paint - character designs are nice. Nicer then the sketches of them.

Carni: Thanks man! Cool to hear the KOTOR-comparison... hehe... didn't see it until you mentioned it Didn't spot the revue thread, could you PM me the link, and I'll drop by for sure!

petite: Thanks for the thoughts, Dina! I'll run it by the guys and du some more costumes... These are for the leader who don't do manual labour... but I could try to bring in some more steampunky elements as like.. decoration on their clothes or whatnot.. heh... We'll be sharing as we go along on it.. hehe... And I guess you'll see stuff through Andreas too

eparts: Yah... you're right about the saturation for sure! They're printed already though, but I could go back and fix just to have it done I've been busy during weekends lately, but I'll try to drop in and sketch with ya'll sometime for sure!

Sorknes: Thank you Sorky Cool to hear you like! I'm doing pencil studies regularily now, and I'll push values more! Getting back into using several pencils of varying hardness, so I'm hoping to show a bigger valuerange soon!

mariusz: Yeah.. guess a couple of 'em went by a bit fast... they're painted on top of a rough 3d basemesh though, so the length relationships should be right.. That being said, it could be that I've done something weird to make 'em seem that way I'll get it correct when I do the full concept though.. hehe... Thanks!

bharat: Thanks for dropping by dood! Glad you like!

JustinBeckett: I like the digitals better too.. heh... Got a couple more sketches to scan since last with more costumes though... I'll post when I get my ass to scanning! Glad to see ya in here!

Ok.. a WIP for work... do crit and suggest and rip to pieces Wanna push myself on this one, seeing as how I'm enjoying painting it!

Nice, keep going for it! On this last one the characters feet seem to not be at the same perspective as the rest

i you've been up to some cool thing man

i'd try and keep in mind some more "ordinate" composition in stuff like that last one, perhaps even messing about with the golden ratio to make it work better (maybe cropping it a bit)
I think you could have put more importance on the character and maybe chosen a lower horizon, but seems to be a bit too late for that.I'd personally make those columns simples.Vegetation, graffiti, more damage and maybe a broken car could do it some good.If the scene was not so much in daylight a fireplace or something like that could have served as a neat secondary light source

just expressing random thoughts here, great start for 2009, keep 'em coming!

    ciao
