Red face Memoirs of a sktechbook

    First of all: Hi

After lurking this forum for quite a while I realized that the only way to overcome my social anxiety was to just to jump in at the the deep end.

But I also want to get better and improve, so crits and feedback ect are more than welcomed And hopefully I can give some feedback and crits myself and join conversations here pretty soon

And here ya go with some studies (ignore the first thing ):

Hey, this stuff's looking pretty good right now, it's nice to see the attention being paid to the studies. What resources are you studying from? If you have a spare moment, look into Sheppard's Anatomy for the Artist - it's pretty comprehensive and may help you fill in a few holes with your anatomy.

Otherwise, it looks good so far - nice to see you getting into it with the colours!

You're making great strides, but I would suggest making faces a bit softer and stuff like clothes a bit rougher! Keep improving, mate!
    Sketchbook --I'd love some feedback!

I like your skin textures! That is definitely what I'll look at when doing my next portrait.

@ATP: Thank you! I work a lot with Andrew Loomisīs books, Michael Hampton- Figure Drawing - Design and Invention and I try to do as many gesture drawings and anatomy studies as possible with sites like posemaniacs.com and ArtsyPoses. And Iīll try to get my hands on that book that you suggested asap
@Randomeister: Iīll def. do that, thank you for the tip!
@latus: Thank you! I could give you the links to some great tutorials that taught me a lot about skin texture?

Thank you guys for dropping by

    -------

2 last updates for today, first is a portrait study and the other one was a just for fun project:

Stunning!!!!!!!I wish I could draw guys like this!lol waiting to see more

Hard to give criticism when I can't correct my own mistakes! My preferred though is the one from Prometheus - I guess it's a copy?

The way you render the beard is fantastic!

Oh man, thank you! By copy you mean if I had a reference pic? If so, yeah I had a reference picture from a trailer for that one

I love painting beards, thatīs why all men in my pics have beards...always

    Update time

    A few older pieces:

Something something that was once an anatomy study but I got hit with a funny idea while shading it, and in the end it became this:

    And 2 older portrait studies:

    A bit newer stuff:

My interpretation of an awesome fashion photo I saw on tumblr:

And something I did to practice perspective, composition and textures, and everything else that came to mind mind while painting: (because I suck at stuff like composition and perspective)

    A One Piece semi-realistic fanart

Excellent start! I'm impressed with how you handle your faces specifically. Keep practicing general anatomy, as I feel that'll be more beneficial for you. Keep it up!

Started to study Bridgmanīs Constructive Anatomy today, itīs my second walkthrough through this book, first was 5 months ago and itīs so much better this time. Itīs easier, I understand more and I also get the constructive part a lot more than the first time

Didnīt do much today as I was too busy working out this concept that is stuck in my head forever :/
This is one of the better things that came out, but Iīm not so sure if I nailed the anatomy, aaaaarrrggg....
Stuff in the back is supposed to be some kind of cyberpunkish cityscape, I have hardly experience with environments so itīll be a damn challenge but challenges are always great

Try to focus on the main shapes rather than on the details. I see you put on a lot of details while the overall shape is still lacking a bit in form. I think you might find it gives better results to focus on larger shapes and just implying details. keep it up.

@Chrysley:Thanks for the tip, Iīll try and do that

    ------------

Little update. Second picture is a little concept thing that consumes all my time, itīs like a hardcore exercise to practice backgrounds, stuff like spaceships, composition, texture and to figure out how to pull those ideas out of my head. Mehh...

Do you want a crit? Because this site is about that mainly... if you want to improve you have to accept such feedbacks!

Do more studies from references in order to improve because your bodies and their poses look weird... It seems to me that you pay attention to detail which is good... but sometimes this prevails... which is bad! I had the same prob... so work on it!

Also... I see a lack of knowledge when drawing muscles...

All in all... keep up u will get better and better I bet on that!
