nice design scorge, very original, but somehow my eyes could read the former version way better!?

Thanks Scorge! Hope you don't mind but I pinched your idea of putting in an insect to give it scale (and the extra colour). Adjusted the brightness of the background as Rob suggested too. Think I am done.
Hi scorge, if someday i bore you too much with my comments just let me know!
I like the design of the creature wich is the more important aspect here, so kudos for that.
The image is looking too busy though, it seems that there is no hierarchy besides the creature being at the center of the composition. Values and colors are flying all over the image. Also colors are way too saturated (mostly given the style)...flatenning the image. Probably making the creature of the same local value of the tree was the problem since they seem to fuse.
I'll end saying that is an original design, appealing creature with nice anatomy...i have no problem imagining that creature out there in the trees of Pandora.

Interesting, that many of you thought about an insectlike dragonFirst, this was my idea, too...hat something in mind like a butterfly or a larvae.
Quite interesting ideas so far and I hope the others will post their finals, too.
I guess tomorrow the first step after arriving at work is: turn on the pc and check the finals
The deadline lies in my sleeptime
Scorges concept is one of my favourites for now (like design and colors...ok, the questionmarks are a little bit distracting...) ... sadly ptwob's looks like the first idea concepts.. I like the "glowing" belly and the idea so far.
Just thought I'd say good luck everyoneI've been too busy to enter but I'm loving the designs.
Sorry about the topic delay, folks. Clark and I were both at work. I'll be posting a new topic in the next 20 minutes or so. The poll will go up shortly thereafter. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks guys.
ninety9: You are right! Dammit...
Quint: Looks good. Nothing a little scale ref to make things more interesting.
ES: Man, every time I take a gamble with the crazy colors it always comes back to bite me in the ass.One of these days I'll learn how to balance em out evenly every time. I did try a slightly less saturated version, but I guess the real trick is to leave the saturation in the important parts and delegate authority in the image through the use of complimentary colors and values around the comp. Excellent points, and I'll keep them in mind for future submissions. Thanks a lot man.

I didn't get beyond a quick sketch this week, but I might as well post it. Was planning to add a few flowers and leaves around this small garden dragon.
