    fedde's sketchbook

I've been sneaking around at the forum for years now and now I think it's time to put something up.
Here some freehand inking I've been drawing a little once in a while.

Great start! Facial features and expressions look lively. I think some of the faces have weird jawlines though and I know it's stylization but to me it seems you're sometimes stylizing them more than the rest of the faces. For that part, I think it would help immensely to study the form of the skull. Apart from that and maybe some asymmetry here and there, the heads look solid overall and I definitely like their character. Try inking with a brush too if you haven't already and keep up the good work!

You even got some One Piece in there! woooooh! though watch those proportions, most of the faces seem a bit wonky. You gotta show more! och förresten, tja!

You are wonderful at caricatures! They look realistic and lively and exactly like their characters.

I hope you post more soon.

*Smuli, thx for pointing out the jawlines. I've been studying the skull more now since when I drew the sketches from my first post and have tried to draw heads more then ever before by looking at reference photos.
I am not comfortable inking with a brush yet, which I mostly used for colouring so far, but since I know that lots of artists are in fact inking with it I will try practicing using it. Eventually I hope I scraped togehter enough money for a Cintiq, and then I will go on learning sketching and inking on it instead.

*DefiledVisions, yeah One Piece is awesome!, but More Pieces are better then One, and more will come. Tjenare!

*MoKhi, thx for thinking my sketches look realistic and lively. I hope they will become even more lively in the future.

Here comes a bunch Sketches of People in Tibet from an old book about Tibet I found in my mothers book shelf.
All these are sketched with a fine point ink pen and no helplines has been used. The reason for not sketch out the figure with pencil first is, first, because it's incredible fun to directly put out black lines on white paper, second, it's a practice using a tool which doesn't allow any mistakes, which is great using once in a while after sitting digital for a long time hovering over ctrl Z with your left hand..

Here's more sketches of people in Tibet.
When I do these I do 4-8 faces or bodies on one piece of A4 sized paper, so if the lines look thick, it's coz I draw very small when I sketch.

Some more sketches of people of Tibet. These will be the last sketches from the book I've been drawing from the last week. Covered it from cover to cover now, picked out the 75 most interesting people from it. I will probably pick out a book I bought lately about native Americans next. I love sketching people that look different from each other and try to avoid using reference photos of people with perfect faces with symmetry lines, and hopefully they are more interesting for you guys to look at as well.

Some more ink sketches I've done the last couple of weeks.

I visited Mark Behm's blog and saw his speed paintings with oil which were so cool. Anyhow, it inspired me to try to speedpaint something with colour myself.
This face was sketched out 1min with colour markers and 20-30min painted with soft acrylics.

Finally finished my 3rd sketchcard collection of Street Fighter characters in water based colours and ink pens. It took from 1 to 1,5 hours a card to finish.

I started combining fine liners and pencil at the top of the page, and further down I added wash pencils and some watercolour here and there.

    Thx Aquaticdog!

More sketches. Here I tried to sketch faces from the movie Hero. I guess I have a long time before I can somewhat capture actors faces.. These are 15 to 35 minutes each crafted from pencil to fineliners, black fat marker, pencil wash, PITT artist pens and soft acrylic white for some high lights.

Haven't posted any sketches for a long time now. What's happened since my last post is that I got a job as a graphical artist at DiversHotSpot in Stockholm. All Divers, go to our homepage and registrer as a diver! You won't regret it!

In the evenings I've been sketching political figures from Sweden, and here's some of the sketches, plus some other figures in the end of the paper.

Don't have time for as much sketching as I'd like to nowadays, but I have a bunch I will scan and put up soon.
This one is a fairy I drew digitally as a request from coloringpages24 .

Some sketches in watercolour I made from citadel models in old White Dwarf magazines.
I felt it was a good practice for my use of the brush.

The characters are great, but I'd like to see more variety, try doing more full body studies, enviros, and just more structural anatomy. It'll help everything.

    keep em coming
