i have to say i really like this. the fundamental ingredients are working well!
the mechs look massive and loom nicely, the tiny figures in the foreground look approprietly puny and run convincingly.

now think about light direction, weather, reflections, surface materials.

    this might help

looks cool so far, it kind of reminds me of the human mechs from this video. You should check it out for some inspiration as well.

I think tightening the perspective would help this a lot. Some walls in these ruins would surely be intact enough to show perspective.

I agree this is looking cool. The robot in the distance kinda bothers me, if feels kinda squished in between the other two. One thing that might be cool is if you darkened everything up and used the big head lights on the mech as the main light source sweeping across the ground. Plus you could add more lights sweeping through the fog as if more walkers were roaming around.
    Anyways ya, just a thought!
    Cheers

below is a good perspective brush making technique. BUT you have to understand perspective laws in order to make them work effectively. I could have just done that with a ruler as the brush only speeds up the process. it doesn't do it for you. i would suggest buying the tutorial Carl Dobsky has up on TAD and by a book on it.

Push it a bit more, give us more story and some more scale.
Some foreground figures would do that. They could help direct our focus more and aid the visual flow through the picture. They would also be more interesting than a pile of rubble
Mind the horizontal structure in the middle of the picture, it's acting as a visual 'stop'.

Man, this has been a fun thread to watch. Even the initial thumbnail version on the main CC page was compelling, so you're doing something right. My thoughts:

-- For the figure firing back at the mechs, I think you could really push his pose to something with more tension...hunkered down a bit, not standing square to the oncoming peril. Also, my own personal taste has me suggesting a more formidable-looking weapon.

-- In a weird way, having the mechs firing at the men is taking something away for me, like it is more nightmarish if they are just plowing forward, these immense forms with motivations that might be more complex than simply shoot the humans.

For what its worth, I'm halfway through this $10 book on perspective, which I'm finding very helpful:

    Perspective Made Easy

I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this...neat stuff!

The dude with the bazooka probably needs to have his pose adjusted--if nothing else, bend his knees so the recoil doesn't knock him over. (I'm not expert, but I think most shoulder-fired missiles are fired from a kneeling position.) Find some reference. Also, right now he's aiming at some target out of the picture to the left. It would probably help if you turned him so he's actually aiming at one of the mechs.

    this.

i know what you mean about the splashing from the bullet impacts adding energy, but i too prefer the way theyre looming overhead without firing (at this moment)

Also, no reason a guy running through a big puddle can't be kicking up a big splash...
