I've reached that point in my landscape where I used to think it was pretty neat but now think it's abysmal. Also I'm stuck on it.
Today is shit.
Come on frank this is your consciousness speaking , don't give up bruv.
okay.

I'm going to give you some advice that will make your life easier:
Lay off the colors, only focus on value right now. I know, I know, it's
incredibly tempting to mess around with those colors. You have a
billion of them at hand, at the ready, for any moment. But trust me,
learning value, then color is better.
I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's why you spend the first year
in art school using almost solely charcoal, and then the other 2 or so
years learning painting. I'm not entirely sure.
I don't want to sound like a douche, I probably do, but trust me when
I say that that isn't the point.
Anyways, you're making an effort, and that's way, way more important
than anything else. Good work so far, and I expect to see you improve
a whole lot. Thanks for sharing your work : )
I Have A Sketchbook
I also have the worst humor imaginable, but that's beside the point.

Maybe you should take a look? Or not. Just if you want to - If that's your thing.

For a halfway "charity" ...thing... Yeah.
Toffers Thanks. No you didn't sound like a douche , I actually smiled at your post because I have to admit I have no idea of what the hell I'm doing with colours. It's just a sink or swim situation for me really.... but yeah I'll stick to B&W from now on. I think I'm beating myself up over not getting environments done and that's really demotivating myself at times... but yeah. Thanks!
More 1 Minute sketches from lovecastle... I erased quite a few which I wasn't happy with at all but the majority was alright I suppose.

Hi there!
Great to see the amount of practice that you are putting in. However, I think it would be beneficial for you to maybe spend more time on a drawing, say of a face. Just sit down and structure it the best you can (there are plenty of guides online, ll of those books e.g. Loomis - I don't have a link handy, but they are available somewhere on the forum (sorry, that was useless! :-) )). The next day, or int he evening, you can come back to your drawing and fix anything that you will see needs fixing (giving your eyes a little rest is always good, I think).
Otherwise though, keep going and you will improve (which is the exciting bit)!
Best wishes,
Ana x
Jansi Thanks. Yeah I'll try to do that. And yeah I know of Loomis , Bridgemann and the sorts. I actually have all the Bridgemann boooks but the thing is if I keep copying from the Bridgemann books I get the feeling that I'm not really learning anything and if I try to do it from the top of my head , the structure that is , I just fail at doing it.
Each Sketch took 20 minutes.

20 min sketches again for the morning... gonna keep doing this until I get really sick of drawing faces.
The second one is so shit. Makes me cringe. First one is alright...

more faces from lovecastle
all 20 minutes. And they're all equally shit. Time to draw more.

Stuff from school again and some portraits which I'm still working on.
First one was 20 min , second around 30 because I accidentally pressed the image when trying to draw an imaginary line and accidentally clicked the image...
Working on more portraits after the beer break. Will just edit this post.
PS: Second portrait shit.
blah.

I hope my stuff is starting to look a bit less flat... : (
EDIT:
Refined it a bit should look more 3d-ish now.

Some quick 1 minute sketches and I'm very happy the way they turned out.
You can see progression already, well done! It's awesome how much work you're putting in too!
In general, I'd recommend looking at the whole form and shapes in a figure rather than just the outline. Consider where the skeleton and muscles are. The same goes for faces - it's really useful to learn how they're constructed (in terms of the skull etc) to help you draw them. Loomis is always a good reference for that. I know it sounds pretty boring, but I promise you it's really helpful!
Please drop by my sketchbook and help me improve!
For now, but just to show myself/others that I did work today. Even if just a little bit.
your faces have improved alot! i like that you are drawing expression thats really good, study more structure you need it to lay information first then you build the face figure enviro wathever you are doing, also, try to play with forms, vilppu is very good at this learn from him youre having excelent improvement whats important is that you draw alot and have fun with it

my sketchbook! Drawing like a maniac!!

Destroy your weaknesses! theres nothing more to it! stop bitching grab that pencil and sketch Away!
Hey frank frank, I would recommend staying away from the computer for a bit and trying to do portraits on paper and pencil. It will help a lot to sit away from your source material and measure it using your pencil as the proportions are off on all the portraits. The chins are too convex, or the distance between facial feaures are off, etc etc.
Your best bet is to spend hours, HOURS, doing facial anatomy research so that even if you dont get the proportions right by measuring with your eyes only, you'll instantly know if something is off. You're doing several faces but doing lots of something the wrong way will make your progress take very long. Like I said, the key is in taking things slowly. Dont do 20 minute sketches, take them for 1 hour or more, take them for as long as you need so that you are sure that theyre correct.
Keep doing studies, but be more critical about proportions and dont even worry too much about shading, as shading will only make portraits look more wrong if the structure is not correct!
Thanks you guys ^^
Here's the edited version and I'll call it "unfinished" and move on for now. Maybe some traditional stuff or maybe not.
when i take it slow it looks better. weeeeee
Albert Bierstadt , Only used the reference for a bit and then improvised because I didn't want to get stuck on the reference alone.

somefing. I haven't uploaded anything the last few days because I've only been practicing in my sketchbook and they're kinda bad sketches. Or rather practice sketches...etc.
I think this took me around an hour... just trying to put down some forms not really focusing on details.
Some good sketches at least imo.
Haven't drawn faces in a while , and I think they turned out pretty neat.
A digit box bell machine and a face.
everything's okay except that ...fucking...eye....
I feel like I'm making some improvements.
That digit box bell machine and that girl with the bad ass pose looks pretty good.Your faces are getting there too but they still need a lot of work. Don't worry though, I'm currently struggling with them as well. XD One thing I will suggest is studying faces in perspective. And make sure to continually check your measurements and proportions. Take your time with some of those faces, no need to rush it. :p
I just wanted to stop by and say that you have had a lot of improvement since I last checked your sb. You are a huge inspiration - seeing how much you've been drawing since starting this makes me want to get off my ass and draw more. 4 pages since May 7th, wow!
All I can say is keep drawing and posting. You are definitely on the right track and improving fast, so just keep working on that mileage.![]()
Thanks for the advice twilightmoon
And many thanks viconia , again
This is gonna be the last one for today... I hate spamming my own sketchbook and i really need to stop doing that. But when I have something to show I just really want to show it , like an exciting little child
I apologise.
