Sometimes I see something stupid I need to get it off my chest. Please feel free to list some stupid shit when you have a chance.

First off there is the new Black Ops game. The first one had an interesting cold war theme. They apparently figured they would attract a bigger audience by pandering to morons.

It really reminds me of Battleship, accept battleship is actually a fun game.

The combat in this was entertaining, aside from the half-dozen times a soldier would have died but didn't and the shanty-town presentation of cartels that are a lot more wealthy, equipped, trained and professional than depicted. Not to mention the eye-roll inducing passionately classic patriotic-nostalgia-bullshit.
Let's take a look at it from a practical point of view. What reason does a regularly deployed soldier have to start a family? Maybe it's because military men are archetypically jocks/animal culture fiends and therefore absolutely must have kids and proceed to disrespect them by putting their lives on the line just to be a perfectly heroic american father. Maybe i'm being a dick here and my taste is just too anal, but as far as i'm concerned, this was a movie with a lot of potential that ended up as a pile of what the fuck is this shit.

Those war game trailers are becoming so ridiculous that soon they will be parody of themselves. The talk of the narrator was especially funny to me. Told with straight face and extremely serious voice - "We build computers...robots...and cybernetic dinosaurs that shoot lazers from their eyes..."

As for the Act of Valor - I rarely watch action movies but I saw this one just for the military experience. I mostly focused the combat scenes which were done very well and turned brain off in the rest of the movie.

Yeah, there were elements that were pretty, and I liked the soundtrack fine...but it doesn't hold a candle to the original, imo. Especially in story and character...the original had a very different, otherworld, in cyberspace feel. Legacy? Just people dressed up in pretty vinyl - no sense at all that they were anything but people.

I remember when it aired, but I was really surprised to learn that Reboot has a decent sized fanbase. What they saw in it, I have no idea. But I plan on eventually looking back at it to find out what the big deal was.

I actually turned King Kong off when I got to that dinosaur-avalanche scene. And I love the genre. It was as if the flubby dinos were analogous to the raw... ceaseless gluttony of the scene. Never resumed watching.

Tried watching Immortals and Transformers Dark of the Moon. Oh man what big steamy piles of digital celluloid they are. Just think how many people we could have fed or animals we could have rescued but no we had to make these movies instead. They are free on Netflix and its still too much money.
