    I just saw 'The Raid - Redemption'

    iMDb The Raid

    I went into this movie not knowing anything about it at all, suggested it and we went to see it. I hope someone who sees this thread is a fan of the AMAZING director and knows about the (apparently rising) Indonesian Film industry.
    I had no idea... this movie is incredible... not for the squeamish... it has those Raw moments and graphic death scenes.

    IT is sooo different though in terms of an action movie, it reminded me only in tone and mood of City of God.
    So its English subtitled(don't be put off by that) and its just scene after scene of intense fight choreography.

    It is really a complicated art, like an intricate dance scene, in what they do in the movies in terms of fight scenes and stunt man coordination.
    I really recommend it, it is like some of the fight scenes were like what anime fight scenes can do, but are insane because it is drawn and not real and cartoon physics... but this movie with the cinematography and choreography can really achieve some mind blowing scenes.
    its a great work of art.

    if you've seen it, i want to know what you thought.

    I'm Indonesian and I don't really believe the local film industry is going anywhere fast. I admit it's meandering slowly upwards, but;

    Imdb's page for The Raid:

    Writer: Gareth Evans
    Director: Gareth Evans

    Foreigner fascinated by local martial art, makes movies about it/using it, using locals? Color me excited. Yeah this has *tons* to do with the Indonesian film industry.
