Well This are my last fast sketches of the character visual development set ... I really need to get a fast idea on the direction like I keep saying and I rather expend a short time in this experiments drawing them so then I can get a better result when I do meant to get time on it!

For the villains in this I keep it simple:

Gen. Malaise : I need a commander, a good military soldier, that can take any order and see it done! no eye, no cute assets, just raw and bad as it gets!



Hugh Jigo: Billionaire, and a super fat, bold and communist good speaker guy! with several wrong issues for thirst of power and good cover history to get him know is the bad guy but can´t prove it!



Now I can go to get all characters and explaining them in drawings easily their proportions !^_^! and some concepts perhaps later of their sketches i I got enough time ...

Okay, here are my entries so far - Honeypot, Cookie and Hugh Jigo. I do want to draw General Malaise today, too, but I thought I'd upload these for now (even though they're just sketches).

Right, and here's my General Malaise. I kept his hat off because I think he looks more dangerous without it. But he'd probably have one and wear it occasionally.

Here's my version for Gen. Malaise, only a sketch this time. I did understood the feedback and it was one of the bests I got, thanks.
Hopefully I'll finish up the sketches for the other characters later today.

Hey all, I registered for the contest. Theres a lot of nice entries so far.

I suck at cartoony stuff and usually stay away, but the character descriptions piqued my interest to have at it. Tried my best to make it within the cartoony\choppy art style constraints, but its just not for me. Anyway, here are my attempts.

Malaise and Jigo for now.

This malaise is not a general per se. In my head, he served in his country's army in some rank, got decorated, discharged, became unhappy with his government and stuff; and ended up with a pack of rebels under him. He's more of a field commander than an armchair general.....scars across his face, glasgow smile, burn wounds on the body et al to show for it. He likes to keep his badges and medals to show who's boss. His name sounds african, so he is. The desert mention also called out to africa. Could also fit as a central\south american, tired of a commie regime.

Jigo's description as communist, businessman, ruthless, fat, bald.....sounds sort of like an evolution of a certain chinese chairman. So this Jigo is chinese. Moreover, the name 'Hugh Jigo', sounds chinese. "Hughie Jigo" makes him more chinese.

Hope to make a pass at solitaire and honeybuns if time permits.

For inspiration, since you name checked Bond, I went to the essential Bond Girl, Pussy Galore. Is she a bad girl making good, or a good girl gone bad?

COOKIE:

I tried to make her more tomboyish than butch, the kind of girl who would be catnip to people that like butch girls.

GEN. MALAISE:

For reference I went with Captain Ahab from Moby Dick, I thought the milky white scarred eye was a nice menacing touch.

Wow a lot of really awesome art came out of this competition!

I had a chance to try two of the characters... I did Malaise first a couple days ago, and then decided to hop into Zbrush and bang out Jigo since I'm more of a 3D guy. I sorta went for a more solid/less fat version of him than you were probably looking for...

I really ran out of time on the model... I'm ok with the face, but unfortunately I just didn't get a chance to push his proportions (or pose... ugh) like I wanted to, or to take his outfit past the initial block out. Ah well, it was a really good exercise for me, trying to do a character model on such short notice.

Anyway, great job everyone! There really is a lot of sweeeet work here... this thread is a masterclass in stylization, and I'll honestly be studying it for weeks. Bigfun, thanks for a really great theme... I'm definitely not half the concept artist as some of the folks here, but if you need to add a modeler to the team, there are some concepts here I would love to try my hand at!

Below under the Message box you have an Attach Files Box, hit the Manage Attachments button, it will open you a new smaller window. Browse for your image, add the details requested, then Upload the image. After the upload is done it will show up under the Manage Attachments button and you can close the smaller window from where you attached/uploaded your image.
