Hey
This is my take on Ian, Hugh, Malaise and Honeypot.
Hey
This is my take on Ian, Hugh, Malaise and Honeypot.
I always imagined I could be what I wanted to be.

Oh! Great challenge!
There are a lot of good jobs here.
Daimida and Adi, your honeypot are wonderfull. I loved the design and paint of both.
Dazztibles your characters are amazing as well, they really have attitude.
Here is my entry for this thread:
I didn't have time to improve the painting style, but I decided to try anyway.
I though more in the sixties style for the costume design and I used color a little bit less saturated to refer a noir style.
As I understood the Hugh Jigo character have some business in the desert countries, so I think he could wear a turban like the arabs billionaires.
I'm doing the Ian right now but I'm not so sure if the deadline is now or tomorrow at midnight . If will be tomorrow I can post him after.

People
This is fantastic work.
Please let me remind you that this is a contest of character design not illustration.
Put your best effort into designing the 3D features of the character - not the rendering. A great shape in a pencil sketch will beat a gorgeous painting of a dull face.`
I am apologize for not looking at the calendar. But my deadline conflicted with Tax Day deadline (in the USA)
I have been asked to extend our this deadline.
Okay. Deadline is extended till after tax day. (Apologies to those of you who already worked hard!)
Get your pictures in before dawn on Thursday April 19.

Last character from me.

Wow, DAZ!!
I have been waiting to see HoneyPot -
whom, so far, we have seen only in silhouette!
Worth the wait... and kinda surprising!
Seeing lots of nice entries, here is mine.
Classy Stuff, BlankState
Your people have a confident chill quality that is quite unique.
Honeypot is quite an upscale lady. Cookie is tough - but well dressed
Even the villains are elegant -- that might be the best part of all!
You must have a fashion design background there someplace!
Blankstate
I am sorry that we did no give you the direction you asked for, but frankly you nailed the balance between cartoon and realism, between entertaining and plausible.
Certainly this is true of your villians. Jigo's head is beautiful - very cruel and serious. And Maliaise looks like tons of fun. Ian seems rather dissolute and innocent, neither of which fits his character as a somewhat compromised man of action facing difficult intellectual hurdles. And Miss Honeypot is far more modest than I would have ever imagined. And Cookie is another fine example of subtle balance -- she is definitely off the traditional heterosex spectrum -- but hard to sy exactly where she lands!

Carol
Thank you for the effort you made to think through these characters. Honeypot is a sweetheart -- with a Giant Gun.
And I am a special fan of your Hugh Jigo. He may be evil, but he certainly seems to enjoy his loot.
hi, nice work everyone, especially like eriboss's daimida's and adi's honeypot. I guess she's inspiring..

Pine
Thank you for this interesting work.
It has some of the qualities of Maurice Sendak's great work!
And like Sendak - it evokes dreams and the parallel worlds of childhood imagination.
Our project is less likely to be so nuanced and lovely.. instead harder edges, chopped volumes.
Hi all !![]()
I just saw the announce on the job forums... And here I am ^__^! So I loved the espionage game concept that “Games That Work” are pitching, I am a spy games & movies fan! love all the political issues they save us on all their adventures! I hope I get some decent character design today ! ( I only had yesterday to sketch all characters) and currently painting the rest of the team! I do like character design! ^_^ SO GLAD for the extension by the way!
Back to business :
I love the work so far from all my concept artist teammates by the way, But I also have some ideas..... I have work done right now on the Agent “ Cookie” I sure like a woman that needs no make up or sensual attributes to get the work done!! I think that is a very reliable character on the team, since she loves her job, and likes to get things done with out getting 3 hours of high maintenance before task..! And if she is always against men, well it is no surprise she want to get her on pair of pants ...
I always start first with characters on the “Visual development” department, this way I can get a fast result on what I need to draw on the description of the character and jump to the next step witch will be a more detailed concept sketch....
Hope you like her in this take ....
Next comes “Gen.Malaise” , “Honeypot” , “Hugo Jig” and the great “Ian Solitaire”
I just love to draw new challenges for my portafolio on weekends while I watch sunday movies ^_^!

Cool contest and great artwork.
I have just registred, although i am looking this site for some time (not as much as i want unfortunately - i am more into 3d artwork, but 2d is my real love,he he).
I will try to do some artwork in pencil tonight and attach it tomorrow if i can.
Anyway Bigfun i see you are repeating that artist should concentrate on harder edges and chopped volumes - i guess this is because your game characters will be low poly 3d models?
If so,i guess you should emphasize that in start - but with some sample picture attached from some other similar 3d game,so guys could understand it better and concentrate more on possible pitfalls.
See you tomorrow guys with some sketches...
Hey!
Love the contest! Love Archer aka Duchesshope I have something that will work for this project! Haven't titled them but hopefully the characters will speak for themselves!
Cheers,
AlexB
alex --what a range from a very realistic Cookie to a freaky Malaise. The freaky stuff is cool -- but we are looking for designs that can be made into functional 3D models on fairly standard bone systems. Your Cookie can, but your Maliase really cannot.

HONEYPOT concepts
This is the must easy character for me, since sensuality and tempation are easy trades on any of my designs, I guess ugly concepts are the rare thing to me to do ... But given the right project bad guys can be fun, since we all need villains to get us stronger on life ^_^.
Now for spy characters and double agents I need to get a good image of them since they must blend well on any circumstance. and they need o get the attention of the target in order to get the information, also they need to be hard to read...
I Went for the Yellow color mainly because any good character need a color that stands out on their image and separates them from the rest, also because explains great the “Honey” concept and gold and sweetness witch can be always a good way to attract flies and deadly if you have to much of it! ! I do like this character has so much potential.... But I do rather seen her as a feminine seductive woman with the same taste for choosing her weapons, like golden weapons and elegant guns.
Hope you like her design so far.. and the concepts that help me to understand better the character I designing ^_^!
the fast visuals for me in order to get a good direction:
the sketch of her so far based on the visual I did before :
Well obviously she won t be on underwear all the time..but as she also has that weapon on her deadly arsenal ....
Ian Solitaire Protagonist
Well This was fun since all the girls on my work get the first opinion, on what would they think is the perfect American dad' and rebel strong international agent look can be best for him ?, so I must say white hair IAN Solitaire. wins by far, they all love it! as so did I!Since gives to him that special look that stand out since we all know the brunette James Bond look, and the classy blonde “Brad Pitt” look, but none of them seem to be right for the descriptions since “Archer” personality seems to be a bit more of a rebel and bad guy , so I rather give him a silver mood into his concepts, adds a more slick and masculine image to me, and the red tie for adding that hero effect on the screen! In the design I came also with the thoughts of : when I am playings game I dislike having the black suit when all the other guys look the same.. I kind of rather have that “ look at me for the last time ” design on heroes ! They are always memorable ...
Thanks for reading ! and hope you like this fast sketches that will help me out to get a better result to the end of the designs if i get an ”ok” on this direction ^__^
The early and fast concepts ( digital color sketch can be great to get an idea done for ) and you can get over an idea fast that might not work as well as design rather than as a good illustration...
The Ian Solitaire concept that resumes the likes on the audience I ask about their favorites things ...
well back to draw !
Here is my idea for Ian. I think that he could wear a hat as used in the sixties.
And some sketches of the other characters. The same that I already posted before.
I wanted to study more options of shapes and style for the characters but I didn't have time, so this is my last entry for this thread
Hope you like.
I hope to submit a few more before Thursday deadline. More of my work can be seen at www.ryancarll.com

Hey there,
I just saw this yesterday and wanted to give it a shot - I started doing some sketches already, but it's likely that I won't have time to finish them properly.
Anyway, what I wanted to ask: You said the deadline is thursday before dawn - but could you please tell us an hour, with GMT time? For those of us who don't live in your area, or even in the US, "before dawn" is not much of a guideline, I'm afraid.
Thanks in advance!
very late in the game
I didn't see this page or contest until a few hours ago, and I have a few ideas, but haven't finished sketching yet. Hope I make it in time.
This version of Malaise is just for fun, and I will make a proper one to upload later. Just wanted to share, because it has a few ideas in it and... to be honest? For fun.
Will post a proper series of characters for later. It is hard to get a proper angle on the hero, but the others, I have. And Malaise will be more square and beefy.
EDIT: Adding Cookie Darlin' and with apologies for this being so rough and fast. I am not sure if this is too comic book and not enough reality.
EDIT 2: Adding master villain Hugh Jigo.
EDIT 3: Adding Honeypot. Really sorry about the speed sketches. I normally clean stuff up really neat, but you did say that sketches were allowed.
LAST EDIT 4: Adding Malaise, and putting it all together. I will leave the hero alone, even though Connery in the first Bond is my favorite.
Thanks for letting me have a go.
