Great stuff man. Love the value studies and such. I think your forms are coming out better and better.

@Chevy
Thanks man!
@Black Spot
OH YEAH... you're darn right it exposes my failings... it exposes them hard! xD
I've been gone for awhile, trying to reassess my figures and values, most of my studies are cringe-worthy which is why I don't usually post them, but instead delete them.
I've got a few more in the works, but this is probably the first chronicled milestone of failure I have in my repertoire...
@Forrest_I
Ah, Forrest, a welcome guest to these chambers! YES! MONSTERS! I love creating them, ever since I was a wee lad.
As for studies, I've been working at them, I think I might have improved upon the previous abomination I had posted, giving it a bit more density with color. xD
@Triggerpigking
You know, now that you mention it... Yeah! Indio would probably be a great note of reference!
I'm reworking that image entirely, but in the mean time here are two WIPS...
and as a little bonus, here's a general idea of what I do on paper... not that great as you can see xD
Mostly circles and line confidence building.

Great update man!
Even though I don't see you doing much studies but you're improving! I need to know the secret ;A;!
Wow to the 5 of them.They all look great.
I don't think you failed on the figure study!
Just keep up the good work~![]()
*shivers* first thing I thought when I saw that pink alien was that it was one of them creepy ultra realistic pokemon nightmare fuel pics of mew lol.
just a small detail I thought would be neat for the zelda piece each of the main 3d games have an instrument so why not put a stylized harmonica around links neck.
@ Morningtea
To be honest, I don't study that much.
It's a thing I really need to work on, my workflow is a mess right now.
My secret is mostly jealousy and frustration, it fills me with ambition and makes me think and learn a bit quicker. Questions stop being "Why can't I?" and become "Why don't I?".
If I had a friendly rival, the headway I would make would be terrifying.
@ Triggerpigking
Heh, thanks!
You put a lot of thought into this thing haven't you? -_^
I am stealing your ideas!
<.<
>.>
Anyway, here's a study of random beverages I have consumed throughout the day. It's strange how refraction works with different fluids and containers.
This is a legitimate attempt at improving, don't laugh!

Thanks for the tip.I needed to hear that.
Very good study you have here.Don't care about laughter, nobody will!We're all trying to improve here.Keep studying and uploading!
This motivates me to study too![]()
Lol Zelda is one of my favorite game series and westerns are my favorite kind of movies, I got the idea ages ago and just kept thinking up ideas actually plan on doing some drawings based on it once im a bit better.
btw I found this awhile back surpised I didnt remember it sooner.

Gah I thought I had an original idea as well (sulks in corner).
aaah, its always refreshing to come here and browse through some creepy monsters from time to timei knew i was missing something in my life atm
anyway, those drink studies are well coolnice idea too. i might have to steal that
keep at it, ill be back soon for my regular dose of strange creatures. don't disappoint me![]()
@Morningtea
It's pretty weird I'll admit.
I'll go through quiet periods, and then this shit happens.
@Triggerpigking
To be fair, I think Spirit Tracks beat it to the pitch.
@Danbk
Haha! I certainly do enjoy drawing monsters, probably highlighting some deep emotional trauma I had as a child... *shudders*
ANYWAY, on that note... I couldn't sleep well knowing that I haven't updated in a week, so here are a few experiments I've been doodling about.
You'll notice a "quick" (I use the term quick very loosely... bout 20 minutes of agony) little study I did of Chase Stone's "Feast or Famine" monster... really like that guy's stuff so check him out. http://chasestoneart.com/
THE HARBINGER IS BACK!

@Kevin_
Thanks! Love your character designs btw.
I'm gonna start a new thing, feel free to tag along anyone who's willing.
Every night I am going to be doing a 10-20 minute monster portrait (and feel free to bitch at me if I don't.)
I REALLY gotta get into the rhythm of doing more and I know some of you guys want to aswell.
Cheers!

I really love your stuff dude, you obviously have a really... unique mind. I love the sword you did a few pages back with all the eyes; I can imagine it being in a Lovecraft inspired video game where it used to be some dude and now its a sword. I'm definitely subscribing to this thread.
@Jake Hatt
I have brain problems! ^.^
Well, looks like that time has come.
15 minutes in, MUST GET FASTER! But first I need to get better >.>
Didn't quite make it past the sketching phase...

It's that time of night, the sun goes down and the monsters gather for their macabre feast.
But first, karaoke! HIT IT BOYS!
I don't usually work with the chalk brush, but I must say... I am starting to like it.
20 minutes, might actually decide to bring this one to a finish because I love the underrated cliche that is the pilot zombie. That half finished hand is also bugging the crap out of me.
Last edited by HarbingerofIllRepute; February 21st, 2013 at 12:42 AM.
the last one is really nice.
zombies ! the world needs more zombies !
there can't be an authentic apocalypse without zombies !
(or in other words: like a lot. do more.)
->Sketchbook<-
I love your scretchbookand I especially like your painting style. Some of the things in here gave me the creepers!
All the best people have some kind of emotional trauma, honest![]()
on a serious note though, these quick ones are a really good ideaseems like you're getting the values down well, so congrats
![]()
keep em coming
Hope you decide to bring the zombie pilot to a finish man really digging it.
@JakehC I think I had the most fun with that one, Loverboy was on full blast as I was doing it.
@Braineater There will be many zombies and zambambos to come! ^_^
@LunaHurray! Thanks for stopping by mah scretchbook. :>
@Danbk I've seen some pretty messed up shit in my day... I think I started having episodes when I was 8 after I watched two guys fly out of a windshield and into a moving train, one guy lost his legs, the other... the top of his head... *dark moment*
Anyway, yeah! I think things are going along pretty well considering the circumstances, haven't been drawing much because I recently moved into a fancy-shmancy new apartment :3
@Triggerpigking I think I will, but it feels like if I mess with it now the spontaneity just wouldn't be there. Maybe I am just subconsciously pussing out... FUCK THAT IMMA DO IT! >:o
That said, here are some doodles I've done in the past hour. My proudest one is the dick, I don't know why it is but I like drawing them. I'm pretty gay I guess.

dude your creepy atmosphere in your drawings is maintaining and getting stronger with the studies you do... awesome. love it all. totally cen relate... if that makes sense...
Conceptart.org conflict? !? what's happening i havent been on here in a while... is it that banner? is CAorg being ddsod? or hacked or something?
for youu
@Shahan Old Man Rigney (Cryptcrawler) took a massive shit on Jason Manley, the integrity of CA.org was in peril. Oh, and thanks for the GIF man, is really cool! :>
@Triggerpigking O.O Omfg, YES! I haven't laughed that hard in ages! It's funny because it's so true!
I started a DeviantArt and a Crimson Daggers account, since this whole fiasco revealed a truth that I cannot ignore. CA won't be around forever, and for too long I've been keeping all of my eggs in one basket.
It is time to expand.
With that, I posted something on Deviant art about 2-3 days ago if you're following. It's a fan piece of sorts for a creepypasta reader on Youtube link, I was a jerk to her that last time we spoke (being the heathenish atheist I am) and I felt like doing this as an apology.
She liked it
For about 30 minutes out of my day, I'm pretty okay with the result.

Hey man your creature concepts look pretty sick! I hope your still doing the trad stuff as well as practicing the fundies.
>>DeviantArt|SketchBook<<
duuude that last face painting is awesome!!! and lol glad you like em!
and wtf? dude idc about the politics all i know is the few times i've logged on here lately, my shit has all been gone and nothings working. i understand they're updating, but at some point you're just not doing a good job with running your website.
Diversifying your internet presence is never a bad thing ^_^ DA (unfortunatly) gets so so much more potential for building a fan base (if that is what you are aiming for).
I would strongly suggest hopping on tumblr or instagram. They are really good ways to connect directly with a wide assortment of people!
I appreciate the echoes of dark silence that you provide, you are definitely made gold
out of every rhyme. The gloomy environment and influence that you are celebrating
through these monstrous paintings is just over gorgeous. Dark society and dark times
are coming, I hope that you get back pretty soon with a strong comeback. They
will haunt down every viewer, your creatures of nightmare, they are just screaming
for more pain. I will light up my candles and seal up my doors just for safety, until
you tame the horde of beasts. See you pretty soon on the other side.
WHoa! Now these are some freakin looking monsters! Love the one who is singing XD. Your legitimate attempt of improving (as you said XD) kicks ass!
Hello mate!!! Its nice to see you are mostly working in greyscale right now, an image depends very much on good values. Just keep up doing these with some experiments and studies in the fundamentals and you will be all right.Keep up
