    Learning how to (...)

So this will be my sketchbook. Going to throw most of what I do in here in a believe that I will be able to see an improvement.

Bought an annual card for the zoo here and hoping for good weather. Its also a reminder for me to start drawing more as I've fallen behind and it shows at how fast I work, my stamina and quality.

    So here goes.

    Hi and welcome ^^
yeah zoo is great(even when i my last visit there was with 12 or sth like that xD), I hope spring already went to Denmark
so your sketches are a little bit to rough, try to give them a more obvious shape and think about the 3-dimensionality and perspective of the objects(cubes, spheres etc.), which form the animal body

you can also try to make an rough framework out of these objects and define the shapes with them

Neyut : Thanks for the feedback. Denmarks spring changes alot but had 2 weeks with almost summer'ish weather. The roughness of the sketches are because of the restriction I give my self. Trying to do it like croquis where I have to stop after a short amount of time.

Was at the zoo again this week and got a little done. I hope when the weather gets a little better I will be able to stay there longer.
Also worked a but more on the weird portrait and then I drew a 6x4 cm portrait of Tilda Swinton in pencil.

A little update showing some improvements on the portrait. Getting closer to completion and looking more like I wanted it to now.

The tree drawing is really nicely rendered. Shows good tool control.

A word of caution about the painting though! Try to keep everything in your painting around the same level of completion at all times. Fully rendered elements combined with blocked in ones (like the wires) can lead to some things not being cohesive.

PeopleEveryday: The tree I started with a ref pic, though, as I didnt finish it at home I was only able to use it for the sketch up. Rest I "made up" while in class. I actually didnt think it was that good before it was done and then it just all came together. Love when that happens.
About the painting. I know what you mean and normally I do try to do it like that. I think it ended up all right though.

So used a pic of a class mate for the basics though tilted the head a bit different then in the pic. I ended up changing a lot of things so after a short time, the pic wasent that useful for me any more.
After I finished I played with levels and a bit and a saturation to make it pop a bit more.

Hey there, great creature sketches! I love that ostrich sketch from the zoo and hope you get to put that annual pass to good use! The claracon is cool, but I think your perspective is a little wonky there (on the ground plane and the building in the back). And try to push your value range a bit as well; it's kind of stuck in the mid-value range right now.
